There’s no better timepiece in the TAG Heuer catalogue that I personally feel would carry off a Tourbillon as well as the Carrera. Since inception, ‘Carrera’ has become synonymous with TAG Heuer and even after various modifications, improvements and interpretations over the years, it is as reliable, advanced and attractive as it was half a century ago. Five years after the launch of the Carrera Heuer 02T, TAG Heuer presents an important first for its Tourbillon line – the new 250 pieces limited edition Carrera Heuer 02T Tourbillon Chronograph decked up in titanium with hues of blue.

One of the dangers of adding too many functions or complications to a watch is overwhelming the wearer with too much detail on the dial or in certain cases the dial looking a bit cluttered. With this new timepiece TAG Heuer has managed to find the right balance. Housed in a grade 5 finely brushed and polished titanium case, measuring 45mm, the delicately finished blue sunray brushed dial offers two rhodium plated polished, “azurage”  minute and hour chronograph counters at 3 and 9 o clock respectively followed by an ultra-light carbon and titanium tourbillon module at 6 o clock. For the first time, the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 02T has a full dial with a blue sunray design creating the most beautiful effect. Even the ceramic tachymetric bezel is finished in this cerulean blue with hypnotising reflections. The oscillating mass has been given a PVD coating so as not to be out of place in this azure composition.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 02T Tourbillon Chronograph Blue and Titanium means business with its COSC certified movement. Just like the name suggests, it is powered by the Heuer 02T manufacture calibre. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, this perfectly accurate mechanism yields a 60 hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of up to 100m. The watch is worn on a grade 2 titanium H-shape bracelet with steel folding clasp with double safety push-buttons – a first for TAG Heuer. In addition to its lightness, this material gives this Carrera Heuer 02T timepiece a sporty yet elegant look.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 02T Tourbillon Chronograph Blue and Titanium is priced at 20,500 Swiss Francs (CHF). Available from March 2021.
