5 Reasons Why You Should Consider The A. Lange & Söhne Little Lange 1 Moon Phase
To begin with, it’s a Lange and for those who have been following my work, my admiration for A. Lange & Söhne runs deep. If you're new to the world of watches, the idea of forming an emotional bond with your timepiece might seem unfamiliar at the moment. However, give it some time – you might be surprised by the connection that can develop. On my wrist today is A. Lange & Söhne’s rose gold Little Lange 1 Moon Phase, not a novelty but certainly a keeper.
I have listed below 5 reasons why you should consider this beauty for your collection but let's start with a few reasons why I “favour” A. Lange & Söhne to begin with. One of the aspects that resonate with me about A. Lange & Söhne is the authenticity embedded in both the brand and the individuals within the company. I truly believe that the essence of a brand is intricately tied to the individuals who guide its course. From the CEO Wilhelm Schmid to the ever so famous Director of Product Development, Anthony de Haas (Tony to many), the team in Dubai, and many more, A. Lange & Söhne can boast of the most impressive yet humble teams in the world of haute horlogerie.
Having visited the Manufacture in Saxony way back in 2011, I think, in the presence of The Late Walter Lange, I experienced a genuine atmosphere where everything reflects a true identity. A. Lange & Söhne isn't crafting an image based on market trends; instead, it remains true to itself. Now coming back to this little delight on my wrist - The A. Lange & Söhne Little Lange 1 Moon Phase.
5 Reasons why I love this watch
- Love at first sight - I mean look at it. A gorgeous silvery-white guilloche dial sitting pretty in a 36.8mm rose gold case. A great size for slimmer wrists in comparison to the 38mm Lange 1’s back in the early 2000s.
- A well-balanced dial - The classic hour and minute dial remains on the left, while the right side features the date and power reserve indicators with an elegantly integrated moonphase into the seconds sub-register at the bottom right. The lunar disc is also silver, with a matching pink-gold moon and stars, creating an elegantly different aesthetic.
- Open caseback - Personally I always love an exhibition caseback and with A. Lange & Söhne it is always an added treat to admire that beautifully finished movement.
- The Movement & Accuracy - The heart of this watch, Caliber L121.2 not only maintains remarkable accuracy but also features an instant jumping date at midnight, ensuring a swift and precise change of the date. Additionally, the running seconds hand at 5:00 resets to "zero" when the movement's substantial 72-hour power reserve is depleted. This design allows for a more accurate reset when winding the watch again.
- A Day to Night Watch - Many may question the diamonds on the bezel here but in my opinion diamonds on a watch always add a touch of luxury and sophistication, enhancing its overall aesthetic. Whether for men or women, the use of diamonds in the watch design reflects a blend of craftsmanship and elegance. Given the festive season in India right now, this rose gold diamond studded Little Lange 1 Moon Phase could easily enhance a pair of jeans and a white shirt and add just the right amount of shimmer and elegance to any Indian attire.
Above and beyond my listed points, pink gold watches, also known as rose gold watches, are quite popular in the Indian market. The warm and rosy hue of pink gold adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to timepieces and the pink on this A.Lange & Sohne Little Lange 1 Moon Phase does feel a little warmer which works great. In conclusion: This Little Lange 1 Moon Phase is a gorgeous silhouette with an iconic design that is a testament to A. Lange & Söhne’s fascinating history, commitment to craftsmanship, and German engineering excellence. A definite keeper…
