Gem Set Watches Make Waves As They Enhance Breguet’s Marine Collection
Breguet’s Marine Collection has always called out to the open seas and with the introduction of two new contemporary models, this call is getting even louder. While one model is graced with a sunburst blue dial, the second hints at the sea foam dancing on the shoreline with a silver toned dial. Both models reflect the sunshine sparkling on the waves as eight diamonds adorn the hour markers while is bezel is frosted with 50 diamonds.
True to Breguet’s signature attributes, the Marine 9518 features the facetted gold hour and minute hands are in a luminescent glow and display the famous eccentric open-tipped style. In a reference to maritime signals, the tip of the seconds hand signifies the letter B for Bravo in navigation codes. At 3 O’clock, the crown guard is distinguished by the wave shape characteristics of the Marine Line. The case band bears the iconic fluted guilloche that the brand is so known and loved for. The two steel models on a metal bracelet with both polished and satin brushed finish reflecting the different treatments applied to each timepiece. Beating inside the 33.8 mm diameter case, 187 components drive the 591A self-winding movement with 38 hour power reserve.
The Marine Chronograph 5529 enriches the range of chronographs in the Marine Collection giving it a sporty and timeless feel. Crafted in white or rose gold, these new models feature a deep blue dial embellished with wave motifs, hand guilloche within the manufacture. The abyss blue of the dial is lit up by the sparkle of eight baguette-cut diamonds dotted around the chapter ring. This radiant effect is further enhanced by luminescent hands and roman numerals.
Three 30 minute, 12 hour and 60 second chronograph counters appear at 3, 6 and 9 o clock respectively. The date window is located between 4 and 5 o clock and the bezel of this new edition is adorned with 90 baguette-cut diamonds adding extra radiance. These versions are available on a midnight blue leather or rubber strap, both fitted with a triple blade folding clasp featuring a gold cap reminiscent of a ship wheel.
Housed in a 42.3 mm case, the 582 QA mechanical self winding movement is driven by the interaction of its 346 components. Designed for modern day sports enthusiasts, the case is water resistant to 30 meters. Equipped with a 48 hour power reserve, the high precision calibre is powered by an inverted in line lever escapement with silicon balance spring and pallets.
