Inspired by the timekeeping prominence in competition sports, the Cyrus Genève Klepcys Dice measures dual elapsed times with varying starting times. Introduced at this year’s Watches and Wonders, the Klepcys Dice Lime Carbon gets a new luminescent carbon bezel with a metal bracelet.

The Modern Interpretation Of A Timeless Tradition

The heritage crafts of mechanical watchmaking perpetually amaze connoisseurs and purists. Not only do we drive the pleasure of enjoying working masterpieces from a couple of centuries ago, but also elevate the timekeeping expressions through the inception of complicated mechanics and bold aesthetics.

Cyrus Genève and master watchmaker Jean-François Mojon have embodied this philosophy since the Maison was founded in 2010. Cyrus Genève created a first-of-its-kind revolutionary chronograph complication in 2021, which followed in the footsteps of its other pioneering inceptions such as the Klepcys Moon, which boasts the patents for the retrograde date and for linear time reading, or Klepcys Vertical Tourbillon, with the tourbillon on a vertical axis inclined at 90° and placed in the center of the dial, a first of its kind in the industry.

The Klepcys Dice boasts a capacity of measuring two-time intervals independently or in synchrony, with each format effortlessly legible, thanks to a two-tone color scheme. Dual monopushers occurring at 3 and 9 o'clock activate the chronograph action. The crown at 3 o’clock performs movement winding as well as time-adjusting duties.

Marking the watchmaking territory in 2023, Cyrus Genève has presented its “Klepcys Dice Lime Carbon” at the Watches and Wonders 2023. This time the innovative chronograph timepiece is made available in a cushion-shaped case manufactured from grade-5 titanium with a polished/satin finish, completed with a carbon fiber bezel. Imparting each bezel with a distinctive look is the layering and machining of this lightweight, temperature-resistant material. Highlighting the nuances of this latest creation launched at Watches and Wonders is the inclusion of luminescent material on the bezel which makes it light up in the dark.

A titanium bracelet with a satin finish and polished hexagonal central links complete the aesthetic package while delivering an ideal contrast to the Cordura fabric strap also available for this timepiece. Style it, as you like it!

The 42 mm diameter lightweight titanium case is waterproof up to 10 ATM and has a thickness of 16.5 mm. While the side profile might serve an inflated aesthetic, the fact that the timepiece’s unprecedented caliber includes two main plates, makes it all seem coherent.

Imparting the timepiece's depth and layered construction is the 3D architecture of the open-worked display, giving its chronograph mechanism center stage attention. The column wheel engagement along with the play of mechanics is there to be enjoyed uninterruptedly by the wearer.

Although the manufacture caliber CYR718 of the Klepcys Dice Lime Carbon with its 443 components all finished to an immaculate level steal the show, the actual parameters that display the chronograph time elapse are surprisingly easy to read at a glance.

Form and function are inseparable allies in this timepiece as a generous Super-LumiNova emitting blue light from the hour and minute markers as well as the hands displayed on an anti-reflective sapphire crystal ring make the watch glow in dark.

The dual monopushers on the Double Independent Chronograph Evolution timepiece are distinguished in varying hues. The chronographs are set separately by 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock monopushers with reset to 12 o’clock for the green chronograph and at 6 o’clock for the yellow chronograph. At 9 o’clock, you can view the small second's hand-designed as a helix imparting the dial a symmetric equilibrium.

Powering the Klepcys Dice Lime Carbon is the unprecedented CYR718 automatic caliber, designed by Jean-François Mojon. Distinguished by its complication to operate two identical chronograph mechanisms in a single case, the caliber allows the user to track two elapsed times with different starting instances. The reversed movement architecture gives the wearer full pleasure to enjoy the column wheel action in all its glory.

The dual innovative mechanism leverages two mainplates as the foundation for the additional independent chronograph modules comprising 218 components. A total of 443 movement components drive the 55-hour power reserve mechanism at a beat rate of 28,800 vibrations/hour.

To mitigate the shock and energy dispersion caused by chronograph activation as well as the reset-to-zero phase, a special system of insulation allows the two chronographs to operate independently without any hindrance.

To make possible the dual chronograph action, the movement’s motion work mechanism was also overhauled to optimize the display of hours and minutes hands. For this, Mojon derived an innovative solution featuring concentric mechanisms for the motion work as opposed to the conventional separate rotational axes for the gears.

A sapphire crystal porthole leads the wearer towards the backstage admiration of the movement’s exquisite attention to detail highlighted by hand-anglage profiles and a grey anthracite NAC galvanic surface treatment, decorated with an embossed sunray pattern alternated with satin rays. Devoted to self-winding function, the monobloc open-worked rotor is engraved with Maison’s motto, "The Conquest of Innovation", and is proudly adorned with the helix logo in 18K 4N gold.
