F.P.Journe’s Chronomètre Furtif: The Watch That Hides In Plain Sight
Some watches are made to be noticed. The F.P.Journe Chronomètre Furtif, however, is designed for those who appreciate the quiet luxury of keeping time to themselves. A watch that doesn’t demand attention but rewards the wearer with its hidden details, it transforms timekeeping into a private experience. While the Chronomètre Furtif Bleu Only Watch made headlines with its full Tantalum construction, this small-production Chronomètre Furtif introduces another technical marvel—Tungsten Carbide. Nearly indestructible and used in high-tech industries, this ultra-hard material is paired with polished Tantalum elements to create a timepiece that is both sophisticated and durable.

Joining the LineSport collection, the Chronomètre Furtif redefines the personal relationship between wearer and time, offering a unique sense of discretion and exclusivity. While the Chronomètre Furtif Bleu Only Watch was the first timepiece to feature a full Tantalum case and bracelet, the small production run of the Chronomètre Furtif introduces an equally innovative material choice—Tungsten Carbide. Known for its exceptional hardness, this nearly indestructible alloy is created by combining tungsten and carbon at extremely high temperatures. It is biocompatible, highly resistant to shocks, and rarely seen in traditional watchmaking. For added refinement, polished Tantalum elements are seamlessly integrated into the case and bracelet.
The dial is a true masterpiece. Crafted from white gold and adorned with mirror-polished, anthracite grey Grand Feu enamel, it features matte-finished numerals and a minute track that remain hidden until the watch is tilted, revealing them only to the wearer. Housed within the 42mm Tungsten Carbide case is the 18K rose gold Calibre 1522, a manually wound movement displaying hours, minutes, and central seconds. The white seconds hand is mounted directly onto the axis of a dedicated wheel, marking a first for F.P.Journe with its nearly linear gear train. On the reverse, the movement is symmetrically arranged, showcasing a power reserve indicator (56 hours) and a moon phase complication, all finished to the highest standards.

The Chronomètre Furtif is a testament to F.P.Journe’s exceptional craftsmanship, brought to life by the master artisans at Les Boîtiers de Genève and Les Cadraniers de Genève—both owned by the brand. This is a timepiece designed not just to be seen but to be experienced by those who truly appreciate the art of watchmaking.
