The World On Your Wrist: Manufacture Classic Worldtimer

If you’ve been bitten by the travel bug, then there is no better complication than the Worldtimer. New York, Bangkok, Rio de Janeiro or Dubai: each city is a beckoning you to escape into its wonders with the Worldtimer as your trusted companion. Intended for exploration and travel, the Frederique Constant Manufacture Classic Worldtimer can be used to instantly read the exact time in the 24 cities representing the 24 reference time zones. An additional bonus is the fact that it immediately indicates which of the cities are experiencing night or day.

What makes this watch exciting is its intricate inner mechanisms that enable the watch to display multiple timezones. The in-house self-winding FC-718 mechanical movement has a power reserve of 38 hours. It is visible through the case back, water-resistant up to 50 (stainless steel) or 30 meters (18K Gold). One can admire the typical Genevan finishes that Frederique Constant is so fond of, perlage and circular Côtes de Genève among them. Highly user-friendly, its single crown can be used to set any function: hours, minutes, the date at 6 o’clock and the 24 cities disc that represents 24 time zones on Earth, itself engraved in the centre of the piece. There is no day/night indicator required; the inner disc has been engraved with 12 hours on the light area (cities where it is daytime) and 12 hours on the blue area (those where it is night-time).

Forever In Vogue: Classic Tourbillon Manufacture

For somebody who believes in old school thinking, the Classic Tourbillon will be a sure winner. Honouring the finest traditions of watchmaking art right down to the very last detail, the Classic Tourbillon Manufacture is one of Frederique Constant’s finest creations. A discreet hand passing above the tourbillon cage marks off the seconds. This reveals the inner workings of the FC-980 caliber, to which all the finishings of traditional watchmaking such as bevelling, beading, circular graining, straight-grained flanks and mirror polishing have been applied. The movement has a 38-hour power reserve.

On the dial, purity is the watchword, with applique hour markers and hand-polished golden hands (redesigned to be narrower and longer) gliding over an anthracite grey sun-brushed dial. In addition, the hour markers and hands now feature diamond cut edges, ensuring the brightest gleam possible. The Classic Tourbillon Manufacture comes on a dark matte brown leather strap sporting a deployment clasp that bears the Frederique Constant coat-of-arms, especially reserved for Manufacture pieces.

Moonlit Magic: Classic Moonphase Date Manufacture

Dreamy, romantic and shining bright as the moon, the Frederique Constant Classic Moonphase Date Manufacture is an ode to the art of watchmaking. Verdant on a field of green malachite stone, the Moonphase features a new, uncluttered sunburst dial, sporting delicate hands powered by a new FC-716 movement. Developed in-house, the latter boasts a 72-hour power reserve. Combining the date and moonphase into one sub-dial, this creation features redesigned hour markers and hands that glide, for the first time, over a malachite dial. A symbol of renewal, malachite is a rather soft stone with streaks ranging from light green to almost black in colour. It was chosen for its rich array of shades, delivering a unique take on the green-dial trend.

At 6 o’clock, two complications merge: the date and moonphase are combined in a single sub-dial. The aperture at the top of the sub-dial charts the course of the moon, which is silver-coloured to match the white gold case and sits against a starry grey-green sky. In the centre, a very fine silver-finish hand moves from 1 to 31 to indicate the date. This merging of the moonphase and date allows a vast portion of the dial to be freed up, allowing the malachite to shine. Each timepiece is individually engraved and numbered, and comes with a topstitched dark green alligator strap with a folding buckle.

A Collaboration Like No Other: Slimline Perpetual Calendar Manufacture

Housed in a 42-millimetre steel case, this Perpetual Calendar joins the Manufacture collection, where it offers a subtle balance between style and technical prowess. Designed in collaboration with British watchmaker Peter Speake, the perpetual calendar is a shining example of Frederique Constant’s high precision. Thanks to judicious use of openwork, the design yields centre stage to the inner workings of the Manufacture Perpetual Calendar – precise and precious. This contemporary creation is limited to just 135 pieces.

If there’s one word that sums up the Slimline Perpetual Calendar Manufacture Designed by Peter Speake, it’s ‘openwork’. The British watchmaker has brought an ethereal, contemporary touch to Frederique Constant. Solid surfaces have been cut away to reveal the innermost workings of the Manufacture movement. All of the displays have been skeletonised, as have the hands (to which a luminous coating has been applied), revealing the mechanical ballet of the FC-775 calibre in all its glory; the seconds hand has been done away with altogether to preserve the assertively functional ethos.

Redefining Precison Timekeeping: Slimline Monolithic Manufacture

Unveiling a technological breakthrough, the Slimline Monolithic Manufacture redefines the principles of mechanical watchmaking. Presented in a 40mm round case, the new watch features an elegant dial with a guilloché/stamped hobnail pattern, printed Roman numerals paired with Breguet-style hands. The signature Frederique Constant Heart Beat was the perfect model to showcase the pulsating oscillator of the watch in an aperture at 6 o’clock. The pointer date at 12 o’clock creates a classic counterpoint to the high-tech oscillator at 6 o’clock. On the reverse side, an exhibition caseback offers an unimpeded view of the automatic FC-810 calibre. Its traditional decoration combines Geneva stripes with perlage, and the oscillating weight is openworked.

Perhaps what is most special about the Slimline Monolithic Manufacture is that it delivers industry-leading precision by ticking ten times faster than most mechanical movements. Etched from silicon, its oscillator replaces an assembly of several parts and eliminates many of the major weaknesses of mechanical watches. Thanks to its specific design and reduced size, the revolutionary high-frequency oscillator has been designed to fit inside a traditional movement configuration. Housed inside a 40mm case with an aperture on the dial to view the oscillator, this cutting-edge technology respects the brand’s commitment to accessible luxury. While many traditional mechanical movements operate at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the Monolithic Manufacture represents the first Swiss-made mechanical watch oscillating ten times faster at an astonishing 288,000 vibrations per hour, or 40 Hz. Despite this high-speed frequency, the efficiency of the mechanism delivers a substantial 80-hour power reserve.

So whether it’s the Slimline Perpetual Calendar or the Classic Worldtimer, Frederique Constant’s precision and codes of watchmaking is unmatched. This festive season, show your loved ones just how much they mean to you, when you give them a timeless timepiece this festive season.
