George Clooney And Hyun Bin’s Iconic Characters Highlight Omega’s New Speedmaster ‘57

Academy Award winner George Clooney and South Korean actor Hyun Bin are actively promoting OMEGA's new Speedmaster '57 line.

Although originally designed for motor racing, OMEGA’s Speedmaster was destined to fly, becoming the first watch worn on the moon and a must-have for Earthbound adventurers. In 2022, the professional chronograph is on track to gain a new generation of Speedy fans.

Clooney lends his classic style and unmistakable character to the campaign, once again showcasing his long-standing affinity to Omega, which is reflected in the design of the legendary chronograph. However, Hyun Bin is on the up and up, thanks to his hip and progressive vibe that perfectly captures the spirit of the ever-evolving Speedmaster.

The Speedmaster '57 is a classic representation of the original Speedmaster design, which debuted in 1957 and was intended for use by racing car drivers and engineers. In homage, Omega has released eight new Speedmaster '57 watches with a contemporary slim design, a variety of vibrant dial options, a vintage bracelet, and an exceptional Co-Axial Master Chronometer 9906 movement, which achieves the highest levels of precision, magnetic resistance, and performance.

The “sandwich” black dial edition with recessed hour markers filled with vintage Super-LumiNova and three Releases with PVD dials, in blue, green, and a new varnished burgundy. The entire collection is presented with stainless steel bracelets or matching colored leather straps.

At just 12.99 mm, the new ’57 is considerably slimmer than its cousin the Speedmaster Moonwatch 3861 at 13.58 mm. Of course, there is always a nod to space history on a Speedmaster. The bracelet on the steel version is inspired by the Apollo 11 tribute launched in 2019 and equipped with Omega’s patented comfort release adjustment system.

Longtime Omega supporter George Clooney and the Speedmaster have a lot in common. They both got their starts in the hopeful space age era, and they both have become icons for all the right reasons.

George is seen sporting the PVD blue dial stainless steel variant for the shoot (ref: 332.10.41.51.03.001). In one of the recent photographs, the actor can be seen sporting the watch while cruising in a classic automobile near his Lake Como house, a reference to the Speedmaster's motorsports heritage.

Hyun Bin has lately become a part of the Omega family, exuding his signature air of self-assurance and casual cool. He has posed beside a classic automobile in Korea while wearing a black-dialed, stainless steel wristwatch (ref: 332.12.41.51.01.001).

To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Speedmaster series, Omega has added eight new models to the complete Speedmaster '57 collection. There are variants available with green and burgundy dials in addition to the more common blue and black. The "Dot Over Ninety" on the brushed metal bezel and the iconic Broad Arrow hands are also hallmarks of the year 1957.
