Jacob & Co. Ties Together A Legacy And Family Heirloom With The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone
Geneva Watch Days is just around the corner and this watchmaker is all set to celebrate a family legacy and heirloom through a timepiece! Imagine the setting. The location is Tashkent, Uzbekistan, which was formerly a Republic within the USSR and is where the Arabov family is from. 13-year-old Jacob Arabov and his father, Nison Arabov, are present in the space. An exchange happens between them. An emotional gift of a watch is being passed from one hand to the next.
In a family portrait taken 45 years later, these exact same men are joined by their son and grandson Benjamin Arabov. Three generations are linked by a shared heritage and a very rare timepiece. a clock that portrays the universe as if it were saying, "Go, my son! Go conquer it!”
This is the tale of the original watch. The timepiece that introduced Jacob Arabo to the outside world and the watchmaking industry. The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone pays homage to a family treasure and was inspired by a double time zone watch that Jacob Arabov received from his father, Nison Arabov when he was 13 years old.
A watch that, in his opinion, was so exceptional that it inspired him and gave him the will to make his own timepieces in the future. It is the original inspiration behind each and every watch made by Jacob & Co. The following generation will eventually receive this watch, which is still in the family. While waiting, it became the inspiration for The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone.
Watches handed down from father to son have special significance. They represent much more than a simple item: values, love, wisdom, blessings, and a significant amount of pressure to do well. That particular watch, which carries the formerly well-known Wakmann brand name, served as the model for every Jacob & Co. watch ever created.
The new chapter
An intimate element is present in every Jacob & Co. product. The design never happens by accident. It has its roots in a narrative, a desire, and for Jacob Arabov, that narrative almost always involves passion. He does everything himself. He puts his all into what he creates. Jacob Arabo and Benjamin Arabov made the heartfelt decision to honor Mr. Nison Arabov, the person who gave them their sense of direction in life, by titling this new collection The World Is Yours. A true north that functions as a little second on The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone and is depicted as a wind rose.
All about the watch
Jacob Arabov's watch had two sub-dials sandwiched between two engravings, one of Europe and the other of the Americas, and it was complicated by two time zones. A dial that shows a map of the entire planet was uncommon and untraditional at the time. Not one that shows the West in the USSR, in particular. Even at that time and place, picturing the West was a luxury that was enjoyed in private and secret. But the Arabov family did just that, and as a result, they were eventually able to depart and arrive in the United States.
The present Nison Arabov gave his son served as a signal and a reminder that the world is a place that may be reached and conquered. Jacob Arabov made the decision to create his own wristwatch one day as soon as he obtained it. This timepiece could be thought of as the father or mother of all Jacob & Co. timepieces.
The first watch from the newest The World Is Yours line is The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone. The first complexity Jacob & Co. added was a double time zone with two sub-dials due to its original inspiration. It is housed in a 43-mm rose gold casing with curved edges. To provide the largest dial possible, its bezel is stepped, rounded, and extremely thin. It is followed by a sizable sapphire crystal with a high domed shape.
Given that the dial itself is curved, just like the Earth it symbolizes, this characteristic is essential. Amazingly, there is a 3.7 mm difference in height between its lowest and tallest peaks. The hands are consequently likewise curved. The crown is brief, rounded, polished, and incorporated into the shape of the case.
The time zone dial is evidence of Jacob & Co.'s attention to detail and craftsmanship. Three continents are represented on either side of the Atlantic. Africa, Europe, and the westernmost regions of Asia, including the Arabian Peninsula, are to the east, as are Northern, Central, and Southern America.
Each continent is sculpted and stamped in remarkable relief with a rose gold finish. High levels of detail and realism can be seen in mountains and depressions. The dial's curved edge gives them more presence. This dial conveys the feeling of viewing Earth from space. The world, however, is a globe. And everything is represented by The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone.
The entire caseback that is etched and made of 18k rose gold. The remainder of the planet is located here. All of Africa and Asia are represented, from Europe to Japan. vs the skin. With the exception of the wearer, concealed from public view.
Brass plate with a high dome serves as the dial. A highly accurate laser is used to cut out the shapes of the continents. Using a specially designed, highly accurate mold, their surface is stamped. The dial plate has three sub-dials etched within it. The object is then subjected to a galvanic process that coats it with rose gold. The blue oceans and seas are lacquered, a complex process that is fully done by hand. The minute tracks and Roman and Arabic numerals are then gold-stamped onto the blue lacquer.
A new Jacob & Co. unique caliber powers The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone. It shows two time zones that are vertically aligned on either side of a very small second, complete with hours and minutes. The crown allows minute-level control over each time zone. Although this characteristic is extremely uncommon, Jacob & Co. believe it to be absolutely essential. The only option for nations with unique UTC time offsets to display both their local time and another time is using this method.
This is the situation with India and its 1.3 billion people. Indian Standard Time is observed throughout the subcontinent at UTC + 05:30. The minute hand is a miniature rose blossom with four main arms, one of which is painted red to serve as the pointer. It represents the compass required to travel through the planet. It is the one that guides us, similar to the moral compass that M. Nison Arabov presented. It should be logically located in the center, at the top of the domed dial.
The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone is now a profoundly technological, aesthetically pleasing, and emotionally stirring creation.
