Louis Moinet And Rebellion Timepieces Join The Fondation De La Haute Horlogerie Circle

Whether representing traditional or contemporary watchmaking, the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie is pleased to announce the arrival of two new partner-brands: Louis Moinet and Rebellion Timepieces. In joining the Foundation, they show their support of its action to promote the culture of watchmaking through training, information and by showcasing watchmaking excellence worldwide.
Louis Moinet and Rebellion Timepieces, both with a strong personality, are joining the circle of Maisons that support the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie in its activities. They bring to 43 the number of partner-brands whose contribution reinforces the Foundation’s missions to train, inform and organise events for the benefit of the watchmaking sector.
Established in 2004 in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel, Louis Moinet bears a distinguished name: that of a watchmaker, friend and contemporary of Abraham-Louis Breguet, whose inventions include a “compteur de tierces”. An instrument made in 1816 for astronomical observations, it is acknowledged as the first ever chronograph. This same spirit of innovation characterises the Louis Moinet brand, whose avant-garde mechanical watches are made only as one-of-a-kind pieces or as part of a limited edition. Many incorporate unconventional elements such as prehistoric or extra-terrestrial fragments. This singular approach to time measurement is materialised in two collections: Cosmic Art and Mechanical Wonders, where technical complexity meets steampunk style. “It is an immense honour to join the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, twenty years after presiding over the revival of Louis Moinet,” says Jean-Marie Schaller, CEO and Creative Director. “Invention must be for the sake of art”: Louis Moinet, 1848 and Jean-Marie Schaller, 2020.
Established four years after Louis Moinet, in 2008, Rebellion Timepieces is equally uncompromising in its approach. Its founder’s three passions – motor racing, mechanisms and technology – are built into every single one of its timepieces. Sister company to Rebellion Racing, the watches it makes are directly inspired by endurance racing, with exclusive movements inside precision-engineered cases. These are timepieces that refuse to compromise, with original designs, high-tech materials and high-performance components.
With a philosophy that lives up to its name, Rebellion has already carved a reputation for its precision timing of motor racing action.
