OMEGA Celebrates The Summer Blues In Style: 11 Watches Launched In The Seamaster Collection 

Often known as the James Bond watch, the Seamaster has evolved over time - in terms of design, and robustness making it an instant fan favourite.

OMEGA provided more than 110,000 timepieces for the pilots, navigators, and troops of the Ministry of Defence of Great Britain during World War II in order to support its Air Force and Navy pilots. OMEGA was able to advance swiftly in the areas of water resistance, anti-magnetism, and toughness thanks to this previously unheard-of experience, and produce a line of watches that could withstand the worst conditions.

Famously, the MoD engraved "Waterproof Wrist Watch" (W.W.W.) on the caseback of every watch. The line, which was introduced in 1948 to mark OMEGA's 100th anniversary, combined dependable technology with a chic design to create a watch for "town, sea, and country."

Now, OMEGA honours the family that was established 75 years ago with the 11-watch Seamaster in Summer Blue collection, which highlights water resistance!

The Swiss brand has created a new series of bold dials with a stunning tone evocative of an ideal day on a boundless sea to honour OMEGA's oceangoing icon. Thanks to the brand's state-of-the-art testing facilities and the certification requirements established by METAS (the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology), OMEGA is now able to test each of its water-resistant watches in a real underwater environment. These watches honour an unparalleled heritage of innovation, adventure, ocean-tested performance, and design as they are introduced to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Seamaster line.

The seven legendary designs—a total of eleven watches—trace a progression from dressy to seriously cutting-edge dive tech. OMEGA's Summer Blue, which is employed to varying degrees to highlight each Seamaster's water resistance and convey its depth-defying credentials, is a feature shared by all: The sun-drenched surface is represented by Aqua Terra and the deep, shadowy depths by Ultra Deep.

Aqua Terra Co-Axial Master Chronometer 150m

The Seamaster Aqua Terra, which was released in 2002, was inspired by the original Seamaster 300 from 1957 with its limited display. OMEGA has added sea-themed design elements over the years, such as sailboat indexes and teak-patterned dials evoking luxury yacht decks.

Three new stainless steel models with symmetrical cases and crowns are now part of OMEGA's Aqua Terra range. The OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8800-driven 38 mm version has sailboat indexes, a polished and brushed bracelet made of exquisitely shaped links, and sailboat hands.

The 41 mm model comes with a blue rubber strap or a matching bracelet as an option for wearers. OMEGA's Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8900 is its driving force.

All watches now feature new dials in Summer Blue that have been sun-brushed and lacquered with a gradient finish to highlight the Aqua Terra's exceptional 150-meter water resistance. OMEGA has added a special light blue Super-LumiNova to the rhodium-plated hands and indexes to match this shade.

Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer Co-Axial Master Chronometer

OMEGA utilised laser technology just two years after its inception in 2017 to produce dials with remarkable texture and colour. Beautiful aerial images of Earth that are worn on the wrist. The Aqua Terra Worldtimer is the ultimate invitation to adventure with its indicators for day and night and circle of international locations. Even the highly unique Seamaster has its own ocean.

The stainless steel 43 mm Aqua Terra Worldtimer, which comes with a matching bracelet or a blue rubber strap, offers a vibrant perspective of the planet.

A circle of silvery-printed international locations surrounds the dial. Hesalite glass, which connects the outside and interior displays, shows a 24-hour reading with light blue denoting daytime and dark blue denoting nighttime.

The image of Earth, which shows a blue ocean and relief of the continents, was created by laser-ablating texture and then colour into a grade 5 titanium plate. In line with Aqua Terra technology, the Worldtimer is equipped to mark time in a watery world, 150 metres beneath the waves.

Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Master Chronometer 300m

Along with the Speedmaster and Railmaster, the first Seamaster 300 was introduced in 1957 as a member of OMEGA's "professional" trifecta. It provided wearers with an easy-to-read display and outstanding water resistance, which was denoted by the "Naiad" star set within the emblem on the crown. This tradition is carried on in the new model by OMEGA's Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 8912, which has earned the highest degree of certification in the field from the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).

With a matching bracelet, this 41 mm Seamaster 300 sports a symmetrical case and crown made of polished and brushed stainless steel. As implied by the watch's name, it can withstand depths of up to 300 metres, and the Summer Blue polished dial symbolises this higher level of water resistance.

Seamaster Diver 300m

Deep-sea adventurers may keep track of time spent below the surface in style with the Diver 300M, which was introduced in 1993. It features a distinctive diving scale, skeleton hands, large raised indexes, and a helium escape valve.

This stainless steel 42 mm Seamaster Diver 300M, which comes with a blue rubber strap or a matching bracelet, is a respectable addition to OMEGA's line of vintage dive watches. A light blue Super-LumiNova-filled dial with rhodium-plated skeleton hands and raised indexes is surrounded by a blue ceramic bezel with a new Summer Blue enamel (Grand feu) diving scale.

Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m

The Planet Ocean, which took design inspirations from the Seamaster 300, was introduced in 2005 with an orange bezel and unusual helium escape valve. Additionally, it featured OMEGA's renowned Co-Axial escapement, which first appeared in the Calibre 2500. OMEGA's SeamasterPlanet Ocean 600 is sought after by those looking for serious dive technology.

As implied by its name, it thrives in the water, performing well 600 metres below the surface. This 39.5 mm watch is driven by OMEGA's Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8800 and has a stainless steel case and bracelet.

Seamaster PLOPROF 1200m

One of the most durable and cutting-edge divers' wristwatches ever created, the distinctive Seamaster Professional 600, also known as the "Ploprof" (from PLOngeur PROfessionnel, French for "professional diver"), can endure the ocean's most crushing pressures. A helium escape valve was not necessary thanks to OMEGA's inventive method of attaching the crystal to the robust monobloc casing. The French oceanographer Jacques Cousteau and the underwater research organisation COMEX used the watch in the early years of the Ploprof for their deep-sea studies.

This 2023 Ploprof was inspired by OMEGA's first watch, which hit the market in 1971 and is made of O-MEGASTEEL with a sun-brushed Summer Blue dial. To replicate the chemically reinforced monolithic crystal used in those early generations, the bezel ring is made of sapphire crystal. The light blue diving scale is visible underneath this transparent crystal that has a blue varnish on the reverse. The iconic monobloc case includes the famous screwed-in crown and the characteristic security pusher at 2 o’clock, which on this edition sports a ring in blue ceramic. A perforated blue rubber strap completes the 70’s look.

Seamaster Ultra Deep 6000m

The first Ultra Deep watches made history in 2019 as they descended to the planet's deepest point. Following the Mariana Trench dive for the World Record, OMEGA developed the technology into a ground-breaking 6,000m collection that is now open to the public. A watch that was developed in real-world ocean circumstances, is water-resistant to 6,000 metres (20,000 feet) and is approved by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) as meeting the ISO 6425:2018 standard for saturation divers' watches.

This 45.5 mm model has a case and bracelet in robust O-MEGASTEEL and an extraordinary dial that pays homage to the mysteries of the deep. Its pattern is an exact representation of the Challenger Deep mapped by the Five Deeps team using almost one million sonar points.

Its lacquered finish, produced by letting an ocean of lacquer flow across the dial, has a beautiful sense of depth. Not revealed is OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8912, the same calibre powering the legendary Ploprof.

The dial even has a playful side. Shining a UV light reveals the words, OMEGA WAS HERE, pointing toward the world record dive of 10,935 m and showing the Western, Central and Eastern Pools.

OMEGA set out to design a symbol that would represent the whole Seamaster line in the 1950s. It has to embody the strong energy, elegant aesthetic, and seafaring heritage of the collection.

The sculptures of Neptune's Seahorse on either side of the famous gondolas in Venice served as inspiration for the designer Jean-Pierre Borle.
