The Union Of Italian Design And Swiss Technology Births The New Panerai Luminor Dieci Giorni
Powered by a unwavering passion for the open seas, the new Panerai Luminor Dieci Giorni GMT PAM01482, is a stunning addition to the Luminor Complicazioni collection that comprises functions focused on Chrono, GMT and high end complications. With the new Luminor Dieci Giorni GMT, Panerai continues the tradition of combining the Laboratorio di Idee’s complicated calibres, high-tech materials and emblematic Italian design to offer a fresh perspective on the distinct aspects of the Maison’s timeless legacy.
The PAM01482, set in a 44mm cushion-shaped case in polished steel, comes with a blue sun-brushed sandwich dial with white SuperLumiNova® and an open sapphire crystal and steel case back, paired with Luminor’s distinctive iconic crown-protecting device. The small seconds dial hands feature a stop-second reset of the device to ensure that the second’s hand resets to zero automatically when the crown is pulled out, allowing for precise time setting. The dial showcases a linear power reserve display and a striking orange GMT arrow with AM and PM indications to infuse the timepiece with a modern yet classic flair.
A technical tribute to the ability of providing long power reserve, the new Luminor Dieci Giorni GMT encases the P.2003. The P.2003 is the first automatic calibre developed by Panerai within its Manufacture in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. The long power reserve feature traces back to the 1960s when Panerai utilized a SF240 movement produced by Angelus with eight days’ power reserve and the small seconds at 9 o’clock.
With a diameter of 16 lignes, this calibre was derived from a mechanism for small table alarm clocks and had 15 jewels variable inertia balance wheel that beat with 18,000 vibrations per hour and Incabloc® anti-shock device. The power reserve was so long that there was much less need for winding, thus further reducing the wear on gaskets and the possibility of water infiltration and therefore meeting the rigorous requirements of the Italian Navy commandos.
The open case back of the new timepiece allows for a clear view of the intricate movement, highlighting the technical proficiency and aesthetic of the watch. It embodies Panerai’s heritage, showcasing dedication to transparency and excellence in watchmaking. Water- resistant up to 10 bar (~100 meters), this watch has been rigorously tested, subjecting it to a pressure up to 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to ensure it fulfils Panerai’s stringent standards.
PAM01482, paired with a dark blue alligator strap with a second rubber strap in the same colour, speaks to those who favour a blend of casual elegance and sportiness, a watch that speaks to leisurely sophistication.
