Rado Introduces A Golden Makeover For The Iconic Diastar Original Skeleton
For the exquisite allure of its unique shape and clever material technology, the Rado Diastar has always been an impressive horological feat. Now, the world’s first scratch proof watch gets an appended royalty with a spell of luxe and mechanical sophistication. The latest update to the Rado Diastar Original is launched as a yellow-gold colored timepiece with the brand’s R808 caliber, an opus of its “Art of Skeletonisation” endeavors.
An Airy Openworked Design Caliber
The latest release is an all-out aesthetic assault with an overpowering golden hue, its tolerable lunacy complemented by an open works dial. The tireless dance of petite components forming the R808 caliber is given a business side exhibit as Rado’s master watchmakers have modified the base ETA caliber beyond recognition.
The anthracite-coated caliber gets horology’s contemporary nuances such as a Nivachron balance hairspring making it resistant to the influences of magnetic fields. The movement is tested in five positions and finds a fit within the 100 meters resistant yellow-gold colored case.
A Case with Funky 70s Vibe and Superior Scratch-Resistance
Although the effort of skeletonizing a caliber never intended to be reduced to bare elements in essence is an applaudable feat, it is the case that steals the show. The hybrid construction of this rich hued porthole lends the timepiece a muscular contour, yet the ergonomics incline towards a dress watch sense. The case upper deck features a yellow-gold colored PVD coated Ceramos bezel with a similar colored stainless steel middle part. The timepiece graces the wrist with elegance, thanks to its comfortable polished and brushed yellow-gold coloured PVD coated stainless steel bracelet with a triple fold clasp and Rado’s easy clip system.
The sunshine hue of the case is set with a perfect contrast of black for the annular chapter ring, the only thing left of an actual dial in this watch. The dial furniture is legible but limited to the dozen yellow-gold color indices flying along the graded ring. The branding occurs in white print on the sapphire crystal inside while a gold-colored moving anchor symbol occurs at the 9 o’clock position.
A Refreshing Update to A Horological Veteran
The iconic Diastar shape with its oval-ish contours marks a successful design exercise in the horological realms. With the latest Diastar Original Skeleton in Yellow Gold PVD, the unyielding spirit of the world’s inceptive scratch resistant timepiece lives on in an aesthetic that feels satisfyingly refined yet sophisticated.
