To celebrate 75 years of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the UAE’s foremost destination for luxury watches and jewellery, Ressence has introduced a special edition of the TYPE 9—limited to just 20 pieces. This isn’t just another anniversary watch it’s a timepiece rooted in place, memory, and texture.

The TYPE 9 S75 stands out with a dial that contains real sand, collected in equal parts from the dunes of all seven Emirates. It’s a poetic tribute to the landscape of the UAE—one that literally brings the desert to life on your wrist. But while the material may be raw, the result is refined: the dial retains the purity, minimalism, and clarity that Ressence is known for, despite the organic complexity of the sand.

For Benoît Mintiens, Founder of Ressence, the project bridges past and present: “At its core, this watch measures time through the movement of sand. The domed dial echoes the form of desert dunes, and the blend of sands represents unity and origin. It’s our modern interpretation of the hourglass, translated into a 21st-century wristwatch.”

To collect the sand, Mintiens and Seddiqi ventured into the desert together—a symbolic journey underscoring the personal and professional collaboration behind the watch. The TYPE 9 S75 is true to Ressence’s design philosophy. Visually minimal, it displays only hours and minutes, with traditional watchmaking finishes such as a titanium bezel that doubles as a minute indicator, flowing lugs, and a streamlined strap profile. The signature Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS) ensures a clean, intuitive time display—all wrapped in a lightweight 39mm titanium case weighing just 40 grams.
