Japanese watchmaker Seiko marked the opening of its newest boutique at Marks Square with a special appearance by cricketing legend and Bengaluru’s own Anil Kumble, who inaugurated the space with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. For the former Indian captain, widely respected for his discipline, precision and enduring contribution to the game, the moment carried a personal resonance as well celebrating a global brand choosing his home city for another milestone in its India journey. Spanning 1,400 sq. ft., the standalone boutique represents an important step in Seiko’s continued expansion in India, further strengthening the brand’s presence in Bengaluru, a city increasingly recognised as one of the country’s most dynamic and design-conscious luxury markets.

The launch event itself was designed as an immersive cultural experience. Guests were welcomed by live Indian instrumental performances, a thoughtful nod to the meeting of Japanese craftsmanship and Indian artistic traditions. The boutique interior reflects Seiko’s 145-year heritage in watchmaking, combining contemporary retail design with subtle references to the brand’s long-standing philosophy of precision, innovation and artistry.

Inside, visitors are invited to explore a wide range of Seiko’s most celebrated collections. The boutique showcases key lines such as King Seiko, Prospex, Presage, Astron and the New 5 Sports, each presented in dedicated displays that allow enthusiasts and collectors to engage closely with the brand’s diverse watchmaking expressions.

A standout feature of the store is a curated section dedicated to Seiko’s collaboration and limited-edition models launched this year. Among the highlights are the playful Pink Panther edition, Pepsi-inspired models, the Datsun collaboration, and the India Edition 5 Sports. Together, these pieces demonstrate Seiko’s ability to bridge traditional craftsmanship with contemporary culture drawing inspiration from pop culture, automotive heritage and regional storytelling while maintaining the technical integrity that defines Japanese watchmaking.
