Tom Brady's collection of watches and sports memorabilia commanded nearly $9 million at a high-profile Sotheby's auction on Tuesday night, just squeaking past pre-sale expectations. Dubbed "The GOAT Collection: Watches & Treasures from Tom Brady," the sale highlighted the quarterback's penchant for luxury timepieces and memorable career mementos.

The star of the evening was a vintage John Player Special Rolex Daytona in yellow gold and black, which raced past its estimated value to sell for a stunning $1.14 million. While a custom Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon—created for Brady's Netflix roast and featuring his signature and the number VII in diamonds—fell slightly short of the most optimistic predictions, it still commanded a respectable $720,000.

The auction told a story beyond mere dollars and cents. Of the 19 watches that went under the hammer, nearly half of the 1,200 bids came from online participants, demonstrating the continued fascination with Brady's personal collection. Spanning his 23-year career with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, these items represent more than just luxury goods—they're fragments of sporting history.

While the total take of $9 million might not be a Hail Mary touchdown, it's certainly a solid drive through the auction landscape, proving that Tom Brady's appeal extends far beyond the football field.
