Watches And Wonders 2023 To Open For The Public: Register Now
The city of Geneva will come alive with the rhythms of the watch industry from March 27th to April 2nd. The public will be able to visit the Salon for a full weekend. As a result, attendees will be able to immerse themselves in the world of remarkable timepieces and marvel at the innovations presented by 48 different watch brands and manufacturers. This year marks the inaugural 'In the City' edition of Watches and Wonders. Shops specialising on fine timepieces are gearing up ahead of time for this momentous occasion.
In the centre of a Salon, created as a magnificent hamlet with its squares, alleyways, restaurants, and the worlds of watchmaking, Watches and Wonders will be inviting the residents of Geneva, both novices and enthusiasts, and all tourists to enjoy an immersive experience. Over the course of the week, visitors to Geneva will be able to see the wares of approximately 50 different Maisons and watchmakers.
On March 27 of this year, the exhibition will open to the public and showcase some very remarkable works. The event is highly anticipated by the major players in the watchmaking business, who will get their first look at the latest masterpieces from the Maisons. The first few days are set aside for business travellers, while the public is invited to enjoy a trip through time on April 1st and 2nd.
The event will be more than simply a trade fair; it will be an immersive experience that can be had in person or virtually through watchesandwonders.com. You can also pick the brains of seasoned experts at Watches and Wonders. On April 1 and 2, there will be a series of public talks with a wide range of topics. There will be about six presentations and panel discussions per day in the Auditorium. The event will feature a lineup of well-known specialists and lecturers who will dissect the latest watch trends, break down the components that make up the value of a timepiece, and provide advice on how to begin a collection of vintage timepieces. Metaverse, NFTs, blockchain, and circularity are just some of the timely topics that will be covered.
There will be a focus on the past at Watches and Wonders, with objects made in the centuries-old tradition, on the present with timepieces that are revolutionising this art, and on the future with discussions in the LAB, an area dedicated to innovation and new technologies, driven by projects from the exhibiting Maisons that are looking to introduce the future into the heart of watch movements.
The Salon is home to several fascinating exhibits, such as the photography show "What time is it?" by Karine Bauzin. The nature of time and our relationship to it are under scrutiny. This Swiss press photographer went around the world and inquired, "What time is it?" to locals she encountered. One hand motion sums up their response, a signal that is universally recognised and utilised by watchmakers everywhere. After eleven years, she had finished her ethnographic research.
While the Salon is the main event, the entire city of Geneva will be alive with the sound of ticking watches for an entire week. In addition, the major jewellery and watch shops on Rue du Rhône and Rues Basses will be available to the public. Special designs, elaborate components, and unusual watch complexity will be unveiled at a carefully choreographed rally in the City. To better greet guests and demonstrate their skills, each boutique representing a participating business has prepared unique events. On Thursday, March 30th, from 5 to 9 p.m., the Rues Basses will play host to a spectacular evening event focused on the art of watchmaking. Concerts, street performers, and well-known artists will all serve as a backdrop for a chance to immerse yourself in the magical world of watchmaking. Those interested in elongating their stay might do so by attending one of the 'Geneva and watchmaking' presentations held at the Pont de la Machine. Throughout the week, this location will also function as a resource hub for attendees.
Online ticket sales for Watches and Wonders begin on February 1 at noon on the website watchesandwonders.com, so don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity even if you're just starting to explore the world of watches.
