Jumping onto the smaller dials trend, IWC Schaffhausen has launched a smaller variant of its iconic Ingenieur collection with the Ingenieur Automatic 35 at Watches And Wonders 2025. This new, more compact version of the iconic luxury sports watch brings refined ergonomics, high-end finishing, and timeless elegance to a 35mm case size—perfectly balancing sportiness with wearability.

The Ingenieur Automatic 35 is available in three stunning variations: an 18-carat 5N gold model with a gold-colored dial, and two stainless steel versions featuring either a black or silver-plated dial. Despite its smaller size, the Ingenieur Automatic 35 retains the same meticulous craftsmanship and intricate detailing found in its 40mm predecessor, introduced in 2023.

Sleek Proportions, Striking Presence

Despite its 35mm diameter and slim 9.44mm profile, the Ingenieur Automatic 35 delivers the unmistakable look and feel of the Ingenieur. Its signature design elements include:

  • A bold bezel with five functional screws
  • An integrated bracelet with middle-link attachment
  • The signature “Grid” dial with applied indices

Every component of the Ingenieur Automatic 35 has been carefully re-proportioned to maintain the collection’s distinctive character in a smaller size. The result is a watch that feels effortlessly balanced, elegant, and supremely comfortable on the wrist.

True to IWC’s commitment to precision and craftsmanship, the Ingenieur Automatic 35 features a stunning combination of satin-finished and polished surfaces. The bezel, secured with five functional screws, is satin-brushed with a polished outer edge, while the bracelet’s H-links follow the same sophisticated finishing pattern. The centre links and case back are fully polished, reflecting light beautifully and enhancing the watch’s dynamic appeal.

The Signature "Grid" Dial

A defining feature of the Ingenieur collection is its meticulously crafted "Grid" dial, composed of finely etched lines and squares. This intricate texture adds depth and a sense of technical sophistication to the watch. Each dial variant is paired with hand-applied indices filled with Super-LumiNova®, ensuring optimal legibility.

  • The 18-carat 5N gold model (Ref. IW324903) features solid gold indices and gold-plated hands.
  • The stainless steel silver-plated dial model (Ref. IW324901) and the black dial model (Ref. IW324906) feature steel appliques and rhodium-plated hands.

All three models feature a sapphire glass case back, offering a glimpse of the IWC-manufactured 47110 calibre. This automatic movement boasts a 42-hour power reserve and is decorated with Geneva stripes and circular graining, complemented by a gold-plated oscillating weight.
