Watches And Wonders 2025: Chopard Celebrates 25 Years of Quattro Technology With A Refined New L.U.C Quattro Timepiece
A quarter of a century after revolutionizing power reserves in watchmaking, Chopard Manufacture marks the 25th anniversary of its groundbreaking Quattro movement with an elegant new interpretation of the L.U.C Quattro at Watches And Wonders 2025.
Since its debut in 2000, Chopard’s Quattro technology has stood out as a true innovation in Haute Horlogerie. The secret? Two pairs of stacked barrels housing nearly two meters of springs—an engineering feat that enables the exceptional nine-day power reserve. But the Quattro’s innovation goes beyond endurance. By delivering energy more evenly to the escapement, the movement maintains a consistent amplitude throughout its entire reserve. This translates into superior chronometric performance, earning the watch official chronometer certification from the COSC.

To further refine accuracy, Chopard has equipped the movement with a Phillips terminal curve on the balance spring, enhancing the stability of oscillations. A swan’s-neck regulator allows for fine-tuned adjustments to the active length of the balance spring, ensuring optimal frequency regulation. For added precision, the movement also features a stop-seconds function, allowing the wearer to set the time to the exact second.
Quattro: A Cornerstone of the L.U.C Collection
As the second movement ever developed by Chopard Manufacture, the Quattro caliber has played a key role in the evolution of the Maison’s watchmaking expertise. First introduced in the L.U.C 98.01-L movement, the Quattro system was built upon the foundation of the inaugural L.U.C 96.01-L caliber, with the goal of extending power reserve without compromising on slimness or elegance. Over the years, this versatile mechanism has powered various timepieces, from the L.U.C Quattro Tourbillon and L.U.C Regulator to the ultra-complicated L.U.C All-in-One. Most recently, the Quattro Spirit 25 brought this technology to a jumping-hour complication, achieving a record-setting eight-day power reserve.
Now, the new L.U.C Quattro introduces a fresh iteration: the L.U.C 98.09-L caliber. This refined version relocates the power-reserve indicator to the movement side, creating a more streamlined and minimalist dial design.
Masterful Craftsmanship: The Poinçon de Genève Seal
Beyond its technical brilliance, the L.U.C Quattro is a showcase of exquisite craftsmanship. Earning the coveted Poinçon de Genève hallmark, each watch undergoes rigorous finishing processes. From chamfering and satin-brushing to circular graining and Côtes de Genève decoration, no detail is overlooked—even in components hidden beneath the bridges.

Chopard’s watchmakers use hundreds of specialized tools to ensure each part meets the highest standards of Geneva’s watchmaking tradition. Governed by an independent body, the Poinçon de Genève certification guarantees excellence in movement structure, aesthetics, and precision, cementing the L.U.C Quattro’s place among the finest timepieces in the world.
A Redesigned Case with Timeless Elegance
The latest L.U.C Quattro embraces a refined case design that enhances both comfort and aesthetics. Now measuring 39mm in diameter and just 10.4mm thick, it offers a slimmer, more sophisticated profile that sits elegantly on any wrist.

Crafted from ethical 18-carat rose gold, the case features a bassine shape—wider at the top and narrower at the base—drawing inspiration from 19th-century pocket watches created by Louis-Ulysse Chopard. The vertical satin-brushed case sides contrast beautifully with the domed, polished bezel, while the separately crafted and welded lugs ensure seamless integration. A fluted, curved crown adds a final touch of refinement and ergonomic ease. Completing the watch’s harmonious silhouette, a slightly domed sapphire crystal follows the natural curvature of the bezel, creating a smooth and fluid profile.
Balancing Purity and Precision
Beneath its elegant exterior, the L.U.C Quattro conceals a wealth of mechanical sophistication. The dial, made of brass with a frosted texture, is finished in a deep blue hue achieved through galvanic treatment. Rose gold hands and hour markers provide a striking contrast, ensuring optimal legibility.

A significant design evolution is the relocation of the power-reserve indicator. Previously positioned at 12 o’clock, it has now been shifted to the movement side, visible through the case back. This adjustment enhances the dial’s purity, allowing the beauty of the movement to remain a hidden treasure for the wearer to discover.
Under the guidance of Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, the L.U.C collection has become synonymous with innovation and artistry, combining traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. With the latest L.U.C Quattro, Chopard once again demonstrates its ability to merge technical mastery with timeless elegance. As the Quattro movement marks its 25th anniversary, this new timepiece not only honors its legacy but also sets the stage for the next chapter in the evolution of Haute Horlogerie.
