Zenith is celebrating its 160th anniversary in spectacular style, unveiling a trio of timepieces that reimagine three of its most iconic chronographs in a striking monochromatic blue. This signature colour has long been associated with the brand, symbolizing its connection to the skies and the pursuit of horological excellence. For this milestone year, Zenith introduces a CHRONOMASTER Sport, a DEFY Skyline Chronograph, and a PILOT Chronograph all crafted in an exclusive blue ceramic developed specifically for the occasion. Available in limited editions of 160 pieces each, collectors can acquire them individually or as part of a special anniversary box set.

A tribute to the Maison’s celestial inspiration, the colour blue has been deeply embedded in Zenith’s DNA since its founding by Georges Favre-Jacot. His vision of reaching the zenith—the highest point in the sky—continues to guide the brand’s relentless pursuit of precision and innovation. Ceramic, chosen for this special edition, is a material as exceptional as it is challenging, known for its durability, scratch resistance, and biocompatibility. Creating a unique shade like Zenith’s deep blue required months of development, showcasing the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship. Each watch in this trilogy is finished with the same meticulous attention to detail as Zenith’s traditional gold and steel timepieces.

PILOT BIG DATE FLYBACK 160th ANNIVERSARY EDITION

Zenith’s history with aviation dates back to 1888, when it filed a trademark for the term “Pilote,” and later “Pilot” in 1904. This heritage comes to life once again with the PILOT Big Date Flyback 160th Anniversary Edition, an all-blue rendition of the modern PILOT collection first introduced in 2023. Encased in micro-blasted blue ceramic, the 42.5 mm case features a titanium crown and rectangular pushers, while the hands and Arabic numerals stand out with luminescent coating for optimal legibility.

At its core lies the El Primero 3652 calibre, an evolution of Zenith’s legendary high-frequency automatic chronograph. The big date function, boasting a patented compliant mechanism, ensures ultra-fast date changes in just 0.007 seconds, while the flyback function allows seamless chronograph resets with a single push—essential for pilots navigating the skies. The open case back reveals the movement’s intricate finishing and a special 160th-anniversary rotor. This limited-edition timepiece comes with two Cordura-effect rubber straps one in blue and an additional white option both equipped with a steel triple-folding clasp and a quick-change system for effortless versatility.

DEFY SKYLINE CHRONOGRAPH 160th ANNIVERSARY EDITION

Blending heritage with modern innovation, the DEFY Skyline Chronograph carries forward the legacy of the 1969 DEFY with a bold, architectural design. Now, for the first time, the collection is introduced in ceramic, featuring Zenith’s specially developed blue hue. The 42 mm case and integrated bracelet exude a striking monochrome aesthetic, complemented by a geometric-patterned dial inspired by Zenith’s four-pointed star.

Inside, the El Primero 3600 calibre delivers a high-frequency chronograph function capable of measuring 1/10th of a second. The central chronograph seconds hand completes a full revolution every 10 seconds, a testament to Zenith’s mastery of precision timekeeping. The movement, visible through the sapphire case back, is finished with a satin-brushed oscillating weight engraved with a commemorative 160th-anniversary inscription.

Designed for adaptability, the DEFY Skyline Chronograph features a quick strap-change system, allowing wearers to swap between the ceramic bracelet and the included blue rubber strap with ease.

CHRONOMASTER SPORT 160th ANNIVERSARY EDITION

Few chronographs are as instantly recognizable as the CHRONOMASTER Sport. For the first time, this flagship model is clad in blue ceramic, from its 41 mm case to its sunray-finished dial and ceramic bracelet. Retaining Zenith’s signature tricolor chronograph counters, the watch embodies the brand’s sporty yet refined aesthetic.

At its heart beats the El Primero 3600 movement, perfected over 56 years of continuous refinement. Operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour, it offers 1/10th-of-a-second chronograph readings, with the central seconds hand making a full rotation in just 10 seconds. The sapphire display case back reveals its sophisticated architecture, including a column wheel and horizontal clutch, along with an openworked 160th-anniversary oscillating weight. For added versatility, the CHRONOMASTER Sport 160th Anniversary Edition includes both a blue ceramic bracelet and a blue rubber strap, each secured with a steel folding clasp.

A Tribute to 160 Years of Innovation

“Blue has always been a defining element of Zenith’s identity, symbolizing our connection to the sky and the pioneering spirit that has driven us for 160 years,” says Benoît de Clerck, CEO of Zenith Watches. “To mark this milestone, we wanted to give our signature color a new dimension through a trilogy of ceramic chronographs. More than a tribute to our heritage, these timepieces embody the spirit of innovation and craftsmanship that continue to shape the future of our Maison.”
