Watches and Wonders 2024: A Tattoo-Etched Sapphire Construction Dazzles The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire
Hublot’s 8-year long collaboration with the iconic tattoo artist Maxime Plescia-Buchi of the popular magazine Sang Bleu has been realized in a series of ultra haute horlogerie creations. Symbolic of the highly faceted case aesthetic, the creations find a dazzling evolution with the release of the Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire introduced at Watches and Wonders 2024. Its three-dimensional aesthetic makes for a superior statement and the overall package, despite being a bit hard to comprehend, is abundantly cool.
Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire
The Spirit of Big Bang Sang Bleu Sapphire retains the iconic barrel shape and 42 mm diameter of the Spirit of Big Bang while offering a transformed aesthetic makeover. Despite its bold proportions and assertive shape, the watch provides perfect ergonomics suitable for all wrist sizes, whether feminine or masculine. The design of the watch is inspired by Sang Bleu's intricate style, featuring hexagons, rhombuses and triangles that redefine forms and volumes.
The sapphire extends from the dial to the 42 mm case and bezel, enhancing the watch's organic design. The complexity of the design and the demanding geometry of Maxime's tattooing required pushing the boundaries of sapphire machining. Despite its hardness, the sapphire crystal offers complete transparency, highlighting the sharp and methodical features of the Sang Bleu design in an ultra-light minimalist style.
The watch released at Watches and Wonders 2024 is powered by the HUB4700, a skeletonized automatic chronograph movement with a date at 4:30. It delivers a 50-hour power reserve achieved with an oscillating weight redesigned in the Sang Bleu style. The non-transparent elements of the limited to 100 pieces watch are crafted from titanium.
