With winters approaching, shades of blue and white all around, the watchmakers wish to give an exciting experience to their wearers. Grand Seiko is here to set this in motion.

Introducing a new Spring Drive creation that captures the winter scenery of Shinshu. Winter in Shinshu, the region that is home to the Shinshu Watch Studio, where all Grand Seiko Spring Drive watches are made, presents a wide range of both fleeting and long-lasting sights. Shizuri-Yuki, for example, occurs when snow falls from the limbs of trees, generating a dazzling waterfall of light. This new timepiece brings to life the mild winter scenery of Shinshu and the ephemeral beauty of Shizuri-Yuki with its 18k rose gold case adorned with lines of diamonds and the glide motion second hand that slides gently and continually across the white textured dial.

Precious metals, diamonds, and a white textured dial

The Shinshu Watch Studio's highly trained craftsmen and women delicately place 53 diamonds in the 18k rose gold case. The diamonds are positioned in such a way that their size decreases gradually from the case's centre to the lug ends, providing a lovely, flowing look. The diamonds' surfaces are perfectly matched to provide a gentle glitter that shows Grand Seiko's high degree of craftsmanship.

The see-through sapphire crystal case back reveals the beauty of the Spring Drive movement.

The patterned dial symbolises Shinshu's bright and fresh winter snow, and when combined with the smooth sweeping movement of the seconds hand, the dial conveys the serene and seamless passage of time.

The watch uniquely combines slimness, power, and precision. The manual-winding Caliber 9R31 that drives the watch has a depth of only 10.2mm, a power reserve of 72 hours, and a precision of 1 second per day. It comes with a brown leather band with expertly created seams on the sides and an alternative satin, gold-colored leather strap.

In January 2022, the new Grand Seiko Spring Drive design will be offered in a limited edition of 60 at Grand Seiko Boutiques and select Grand Seiko dealers across the world.
