The DEFY Midnight, Zenith's first DEFY series designed specifically for women, debuted in 2020 to the joy of those seeking contemporary and assertive femininity in watchmaking. The DEFY Midnight was designed with free-spirited, dream-chasing ladies in mind as an adaptable sporty-chic timepiece with a decidedly cosmic style.

The DEFY Midnight is a versatile companion for today's independent women, as emphasised on the ZENITH DREAMHERS platform, where outspoken and powerful women share their experiences and urge others to go out there and achieve their goals. Now, two more pieces have been added to the collection, both of which are inspired by a major element of Zenith lore — the starry night sky – and some of its transitory yet eternally intriguing phenomena: the Midnight Sunset DEFY and DEFY Midnight Borealis.

These two bright variations, housed in a 36mm stainless steel case with brilliant-cut white diamonds on the bezel, reinterpret classic workmanship in a fresh and unprecedented way. The dials, which include guilloché etched radiant wave patterns that look like rays of light originating from the single appliqué star towards the top of the dial, offering a fresh perspective on the ancestral artform in an unexpected and visually spectacular way.

The dial of the DEFY Midnight Sunset smoothly flows from a warm red to a deep yellow tone in a perfect gradation of colours that recalls the brief but breathtaking sky as the sun discharges its final rays of light before giving way to night.

The DEFY Midnight Borealis features a midnight blue dial that gradually transitions to a dazzling emerald green towards the bottom, evoking the aurora borealis or northern lights phenomena seen around the arctic circle. White diamonds are added to every hour marker in both versions, with the exception of the date window at 3 o'clock.

The DEFY Midnight is equipped with the automatic Elite 670 automatic manufacture calibre, which has a power reserve of 50 hours and is visible through the sapphire case back. A heavenly touch is added to the action by a star-shaped vibrating mass.

The DEFY Midnight's quick strap-change mechanism, which allows the integrated stainless steel bracelet to be easily swapped with any of the three supplied leather, textile, or rubber straps without the use of tools, is one of the features that makes it so versatile and easy to adapt to any situation and outfit. The DEFY Midnight comes with three additional coloured straps and an interchangeable folding buckle, as well as a distinctive box that doubles as a storage case for valuables.

Zenith is launching a new line of sustainably made straps with a high-fashion edge in collaboration with Nona Source, an LVMH-incubated start-up, using deadstock fabrics from the group's most prestigious Fashion & Leather Goods Maisons that are upcycled and transformed into lavish straps in a variety of textiles and colours.
