Forged In Platinum: David Candaux’s DC1 Art du Tourbillon

For 2026, David Candaux introduces a first for the brand with the DC1 Platine Art du Tourbillon, a limited edition of just eight pieces that marks its debut in platinum. More than simply a new case material, platinum brings an entirely different dimension to the timepiece, lending it greater weight, presence and character on the wrist. Revered in haute horlogerie for over two centuries, platinum is also one of the most challenging metals to work with. Dense, noble and highly malleable, it resists the craftsman at every stage, retaining the memory of each tool and revealing even the slightest imperfection. Unlike gold, which yields more readily, platinum grips, tears and demands exceptional precision to achieve a flawless finish. This challenge is amplified in the DC1, whose sharply defined case architecture is characterised by crisp edges and angular surfaces. Preserving these details in platinum required painstaking hand-finishing, with every angle carefully reworked throughout the polishing process to ensure it retained its original sharpness and structure. The result is a fully polished platinum case that not only elevates the visual and tactile experience of the DC1 but also stands as a testament to the extraordinary craftsmanship behind its creation.
