The beauty of the natural world is palpable at the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, where Grand Seiko mechanical watches are made. Located in northern Japan, with Mt. Iwate in the distance, master craftsmen and women bring watches to life in a place deeply in tune with the local surroundings. A new creation inspired by the mountain that has come to symbolize Grand Seiko mechanical watchmaking is introduced into the Evolution 9 Collection. In design, material and technology, the new watch demonstrates the innovative spirit of Grand Seiko.

The watch has been shaped in the Evolution 9 Style, which represents a step forward for the Grand Seiko ideals of beauty, legibility, and wearing comfort while honoring a design language established in 1967 with the iconic 44GS. Zaratsu polishing to a distortion-free mirror finish alternates with a delicate hairline finish to impart a quiet and harmonious glow. The watch’s powerful hands and prominent, grooved indexes ensure the legibility for which Grand Seiko has become renowned. The case, with its low center of gravity, and a bracelet with the perfect width and thickness combine to ensure that the watch sits comfortably and securely on the wrist.

The case and bracelet are made of Ever-Brilliant Steel, a stainless-steel alloy that features greater corrosion resistance than is typically seen in the watch industry today. Enhanced by the properties of Ever-Brilliant Steel, the hairline-finished parts of the watch shine whiter than they would if formed from usual stainless steel. Their finish perfectly complements the lightblue dial, creating a harmonious design that shimmers beautifully on the wrist.
