At MING, restrained monochromatic dials have long been central to the brand’s design philosophy, relying on reflection, depth and layered construction rather than overt colour. That changed with the introduction of the 57.04 Iris, which debuted MING’s colour-shifting multiphasic dial treatment. Now, with the new 29.06 Peep Show, the brand pushes the concept even further by introducing a dial that appears and disappears depending on how it is viewed. The watch’s mesmerising vanishing effect is achieved through the use of polarization, a technology more commonly associated with photography and optics. Rather than placing a filter over the dial itself, MING integrates polarized elements directly into the handset. Traditional hands are replaced by rotating discs crafted from linearly polarized sapphire, creating a constantly shifting interaction with the dial beneath. The result is an almost theatrical display in which portions of the dial seemingly emerge from, or dissolve into, darkness depending on the angle of observation.
