Seiko Presage Classic Series Features An Arita Porcelain Limited Edition

Celebrating 145 years of watchmaking excellence, Seiko introduces a new limited-edition creation within the Presage Classic Series, blending traditional Japanese artistry with refined mechanical watchmaking. At the heart of the timepiece lies an exquisite Arita porcelain dial finished in a rich cobalt blue hue a colour chosen as a tribute to the iconic Seiko Blue.

Making its debut within the Presage collection, the cobalt blue glaze presented a significant technical challenge for the brand. Achieving such depth and vibrancy on an exceptionally slim porcelain dial required extensive experimentation and refinement. The result is a dial that captures the elegance and delicacy of traditional Arita ware while maintaining the practicality and wearability expected from a modern wristwatch.

The creation of each dial was overseen by renowned Arita porcelain master craftsman Hiroyuki Hashiguchi, with the intricate production process carried out by artisan Toshiaki Kawaguchi and his team at a historic Arita manufacturer established in 1830. Under Hashiguchi’s mentorship, Kawaguchi perfected the demanding techniques required to produce the dial’s refined finish and texture.

Particular attention was also given to the delicate molded pattern beneath the glaze. Through careful balancing of colour density and transparency, the team ensured the intricate detailing remained visible without overpowering the overall elegance of the dial. The result is a harmonious surface where texture, colour and craftsmanship exist in perfect balance.

Powering the watch is Seiko’s in-house Calibre 6R51 automatic movement, offering a 72-hour power reserve and operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour. The movement is housed within a stainless steel case finished with a super-hard coating and paired with a leather strap sourced from LWG-certified tanneries.
