Racing, But Make It Pastel: TAG Heuer Switches Gears

TAG Heuer is back in the fast lane, but this time, it’s trading high-octane reds for something a little more unexpected: pastels. With the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph 38mm collection, the brand takes its motorsport DNA and gives it a lighter, brighter twist proof that speed and style can absolutely share the same wrist.

Rooted in a racing legacy that dates back to 1986, the Formula 1 line has always been about bold moves and sharp design. This latest drop doesn’t change that, it just softens the edges (literally and visually). Think beige, pink, green and blue tones that feel fresh, optimistic, and just the right amount of playful, without losing that unmistakable TAG Heuer confidence.

These new pastel pieces feel like a mood shift for the collection. They still carry the signature design codes: those punchy bezels, sporty silhouettes, and easy legibility, but now wrapped in hues that lean more Riviera than racetrack. It’s a clever remix: the same adrenaline, just with a cooler, more expressive vibe.

And for those who like their sport with a side of sparkle, TAG Heuer ups the ante with pastel green and lavender-blue editions featuring diamond-set indexes. It’s subtle, not showy more quiet luxury than trackside flash. A reminder that performance and polish aren’t mutually exclusive.

Of course, beneath the softer palette is some serious tech. This is the Solargraph generation, after all. The lightweight TH-Polylight case keeps things durable and easy on the wrist, while the Solargraph Calibre TH50-00 quietly does its thing, converting both natural and artificial light into power. Translation: less fuss, more wear. Leave it in the light, and it keeps going. Simple.

Design-wise, the watches stay true to their roots. The bi-directional bezel nods to the original Series 1 models, while the dials complete with rhodium-plated indexes and shield-shaped markers ensure everything is crisp and readable at a glance. It’s functional, but never boring. One standout comes in a sandblasted steel case paired with a pastel green dial, elevated with eight diamond-set indexes. It’s equal parts sporty and refined, built for everyday wear but with just enough edge to catch the light and attention.

In essence, this collection feels like TAG Heuer loosening its tie a little. Still precise, still performance-driven but more playful, more expressive, and very much in tune with a new generation of collectors who want their watches to feel as good as they look.
