Glowing With New Brilliance

The Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42 is available in a new edition from Rolex. After being sold exclusively in 18 ct white gold, the nautical watch is now being offered in 18 ct yellow gold. The updated edition contains an optimized Chromalight display in addition to the unique Oysterflex bracelet, a bidirectional rotating bezel, and a Cerachrom insert with a raised graduation found on the original model. A new luminous substance, unique to Rolex, is filled or coated on the hour markers and hands to provide an intense glow that lasts longer. These display components also have a whiter hue in brightness in the daytime.

The latest iteration of the Yacht-Master 42 is outfitted with the caliber 3235 movement, a cutting-edge timepiece that can show the hours, minutes, seconds, and date. The Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42 is a Rolex watch, and it holds the Superlative Chronometer certification, which guarantees exceptional performance when worn.

The Call Of The Open Seas

Launched in 1992, the Yacht-Master was designed specifically for navigators and skippers. Embodying the rich heritage that has bound Rolex and the world of sailing since the 1950s, this Professional-category watch provides a perfect blend of functionality and nautical style, making it equally at home on and off the water. An emblematic nautical timepiece, it is easily recognized by its bidirectional rotatable 60-minute graduated bezel made entirely from precious metal or fitted with a Cerachrom insert in high-technology ceramic.

High-Technology Ceramic

When it came to the creation of monobloc bezels and bezel inserts, Rolex was a milestone in the field of unique ceramics. These materials not only have hues of remarkable intensity and resistance to environmental influences, but they are also virtually scratchproof. Additionally, the high-tech ceramic is inert and cannot corrode due to its chemical makeup. In order to produce these ceramic components, Rolex is completely independent owing to its unique knowledge and innovative manufacturing techniques.

The bidirectional rotating bezel of the new Yacht-Master 42 is equipped with a 60-minute graduated Cerachrom insert made of matte black ceramic. After being molded into the ceramic, the raised graduations and numerals are polished. To enable extremely accurate reading of time intervals, the first 15 minutes are graded minute by minute. The bezel's knurled edge, which provides a great grip, also makes it simple to spin.

The Oyster Case, Symbol Of Waterproofness

A model of durability and dependability, the new Yacht-Master 42's 42 mm Oyster casing is warranted waterproof up to a depth of 100 meters (330 feet). A solid 18 ct yellow gold block was used to build the middle casing. Only Rolex watchmakers are able to access the mechanism through the hermetically sealed case back, which is bordered with delicate fluting.

The Triplock winding crown, which has a triple waterproofness system and built-in crown protection, screws firmly to the casing. The crystal, which has a cyclops lens at 3 o'clock to make it easier to see the date, is constructed of nearly scratch-proof sapphire and has an anti-reflective coating. The watch mechanism is best protected by the waterproof Oyster casing.

Perpetual caliber 3235

The new Yacht-Master 42 is outfitted with caliber 3235, a fully Rolex-developed and-produced movement that was unveiled in 2015 and has been used on this model since its 2019 introduction. This self-winding mechanical movement, which is at the leading edge of watchmaking technology, has been the subject of multiple patent applications and provides exceptional precision, power reserve, shock and magnetic field resistance, convenience, and reliability.

The Chronergy escapement, which combines exceptional energy economy with outstanding durability, is patented and used in the Caliber 3235. It is also magnetic field insensitive since it is made of nickel-phosphorus. A paramagnetic alloy, an optimized blue Parachrom hairspring made by Rolex, is installed in the mechanism. In order to guarantee the caliber's consistency in every position, the blue Parachrom hairspring is outfitted with a Rolex overcoil. In order to increase the movement's shock resistance, the oscillator is installed on the high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers, which were created and patented by Rolex.

A Perpetual rotor powers the self-winding module of Caliber 3235. The power reserve of the caliber 3235 extends to almost 70 hours due to the barrel design and the greater efficiency of the escapement.

Oysterflex Bracelet And Oysterlock Safety Clasp

The new Yacht-Master 42 in 18 ct yellow gold is equipped with an Oysterflex bracelet, a design that is unique in that it combines the durability and dependability of a metal bracelet with the adaptability, comfort, and appeal of an elastomer strap. This unique bracelet was created by Rolex and has been granted a patent. It is formed of flexible, curved metal blades that have been over-molded with high-performance black elastomer, a substance that is highly resistant to environmental influences and is very long-lasting. Longitudinal cushions are included within the Oysterflex bracelet for added comfort.

Oysterflex Oysterlock

A Rolex-designed, patented Oysterlock folding safety clasp in 18 ct yellow gold is fitted to the Oysterflex bracelet on this new Yacht-Master 42 model to prevent unintentional opening. The brand-owned and patented Rolex Glidelock extension mechanism is also included. An under-the-clasp-cover rack and a toothed sliding link that latches into the desired notch make up this exceptionally ingenious mechanism. Six 2.5 mm-wide notches on the Rolex Glidelock on the Oysterflex bracelet enable for easy, tool-free band length adjustment up to 15 mm.

Superlative Chronometer certification

The Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42 complies with the Superlative Chronometer certification that Rolex revised in 2015. Following the official certification of the movements by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute, this designation certifies that every watch leaving the brand's workshops has satisfactorily undertaken a series of tests executed by Rolex in its own laboratories in accordance with its own criteria (COSC). After encasing the movement, the in-house certification tests are applied to the completely constructed watch, ensuring exceptional performance in terms of accuracy, power reserve, waterproofness, and self-winding.

The accuracy of a Rolex Superlative Chronometer is on the order of 2 /+2 seconds per day; the rate deviation permissible by the company for a completed watch is substantially less than that approved by COSC for formal certification of the movement alone.

Every Rolex watch comes with a green stamp denoting Superlative Chronometer accreditation, which is accompanied by an international five-year warranty.
