Dubai Watch Week 2025: Roger Dubuis Introduces The Hommage “Sukoon Al-Layl” Piece Unique As A Tribute To Its Founder
Last week, Roger Dubis - a brand synonymous with ultra-avant-garde, revisited its classical roots with the introduction of the Hommage La Placide Perpetual Calendar. As a modern revival of a true vintage icon, this watch was a celebration of the brand’s origins and a tribute to its founder.
Now, at the Dubai Watch Week 2025, Roger Dubuis as part of this tribute has unveiled a unique piece named Hommage Sukoon Al-Layl, which translates to “calm of the night” in Arabic.

A Platinum Unique Timepiece
The “Sukoon Al-Layl” Perpetual Calendar 38mm in platinum is a horological recreation of the serene nighttime desert which finds a human parallel in the calm nature of the Maison’s founder, Mr. Roger Dubuis. While the contemporary direction of evolution for the brand is a distant side to its earlier inceptions, the new Hommage releases reinforce the fact that in the pursuit of extravagance, the brand still respects the underlying premises of its foundation and realizes the same through the tasteful tributes to classical watchmaking, such as the Hommage “Sukoon Al-Layl.”

The Spirit Of Serenity
The watch is entirely crafted from platinum and truly shines in its attention to detail materialized through a vivid selection of finishing techniques. Here the dial is what gives the watch its serene desert nighttime aesthetic, thanks to its guillochéd mainplate which gets an “Astral Blue” lacquer coating for added depth. The multi-layer dial features a mother-of-pearl flange and dual ecliptic segments with hand-beveled chamfers and transferred texts for indicating the day of the week and date, also crafted from mother-of-pearl.

At the 6 o’clock position, we find an incredibly detailed moon phase indication whereby the rotating element crafted in blue aventurine features curved 18K yellow gold moons for a vivid contrast. The leap year and month indicator at the 12 o’clock position too isn’t devoid of details and gets a similar mother-of-pearl treatment with transferred texts.
An Abundance Of Rich Details
The 38mm platinum case appears in a classic round aesthetic and features alternating polished and brushed surfaces for added visual interest. As a contrast to the modern Roger Dubuis creations, the case on the Hommage “Sukoon Al-Layl” Perpetual Calendar 38mm is surprisingly conservative, as a nod to its past iterations. The crown as well as the triple folding buckle for the strap get the original Roger Dubuis signature.

This “piece unique” timepiece derives mechanical driving force from its in-house caliber RD1472, a self-winding movement with a 48 hours power reserve. This caliber, based on the RD14 movement, gets the RD72 perpetual calendar module to function its calendar indications. The caliber itself is a peak demonstration of fine artisanal finishing realized via no less than 15 decoration techniques to earn the revered Poinçon de Genève seal, proudly printed at the 3 o’clock position on its dial.
Celebrating An Accomplished Watchmaker
The early Hommage watches, born in 1995, were a tribute to the watchmaking masters and friends who influenced mister Dubuis. The Hommage “Sukoon Al-Layl” Perpetual Calendar 38mm, a philosophical synonym to the former, is a culmination of the brand’s honest tribute to its founding watchmaker Roger Dubuis. This watch modernizes his vision of high classical watchmaking standards in a very respectful and honest way.

The Hommage “Sukoon Al-Layl” Perpetual Calendar 38mm introduced by Roger Dubuis at Dubai Watch Week 2025 is a thoughtful execution that serves as a pointer to the fact that the spirit of Mr. Dubuis’ glorious vision continues to breathe fresh inspiration in the creations of a very modern Maison that is the Roger Dubuis of today.
