India Watch Weekend 2026 was an amalgamation of every kind of watch you can image. There were your usual heavy hitters, legacy brands, independent showstoppers and some cult favourites as well. One would assume that the legacy brands would take the spotlight in a room full of avid watch collectors, right? Well, just like India Watch Weekend itself, it was the unexpected that stole the spotlight. Versatility is rarely the first word associated with traditional mechanical watches. Yet the EPOS 3429SK Limited Edition challenges that notion with a design that seamlessly bridges the past and present of horology. Produced in an exclusive worldwide run of just 2,015 pieces, this distinctive timepiece offers collectors something rarely seen today: a mechanical watch that can transform into a wristwatch, pocket watch, or table clock.

The EPOS 3429SK draws inspiration from classic pocket watches, which historically formed the foundation of modern wristwatch design. EPOS cleverly reinterprets this heritage by developing a special construction that allows the timepiece to be detached from its strap case. Once removed, the watch can be carried as a pocket watch or positioned upright using a discreet fold-out stand, transforming it into a table clock. This multifunctional concept allows owners to experience mechanical watchmaking in several traditional forms within a single timepiece.

A Movement You Can See and Appreciate

At the heart of the watch lies the manually wound Unitas 6498 skeleton movement, a calibre long respected for its reliability and classical architecture. The movement is available in either rhodanised or black-coated finishes and is carefully engraved, adding depth and visual character. The skeletonised construction removes unnecessary material, allowing the wearer to observe the intricate interaction of gears and springs that drive the watch.

The time is displayed through central hour and minute hands, complemented by a small seconds display positioned at six o’clock. Once fully wound, the movement delivers an impressive power reserve of up to 53 hours, operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and supported by 17 jewels that reduce friction and enhance durability. The watch is housed in a 45 mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 13 mm, offering a bold yet balanced wrist presence. Sapphire crystals protect both the front and the see-through caseback, ensuring durability while allowing uninterrupted views of the decorated movement. The dial features applied Arabic numerals along with luminescent indexes that improve readability in low-light conditions. The timepiece is paired with a leather strap and offers water resistance up to 5 ATM, making it suitable for everyday use.

Transforming the Watch: Simple but Ingenious

One of the most remarkable aspects of the EPOS 3429SK is its transformable construction, achieved through a secure dual-crown system located at the 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock positions. To convert the watch from wristwatch to pocket watch or table clock, the wearer simply unscrews both crowns by turning them counterclockwise. Once both crowns are fully released, the inner watch container can be carefully removed from the strap case. The crowns should then be pushed down and screwed clockwise again to secure the container.

For table-clock use, the wearer can extend the fold-out stand located at the back of the container, allowing the watch to sit upright. To convert the timepiece back into a wristwatch, the process is reversed. Both crowns must be unscrewed, the container carefully reinserted into the strap case while ensuring it remains straight, and then securely fastened by screwing both crowns clockwise. Proper fastening is essential to ensure the container remains firmly locked in place.

The EPOS 3429SK is powered by manual winding, reinforcing its connection to traditional watchmaking. To wind the movement, the screw-down crown must first be unscrewed by turning it counterclockwise. The wearer then winds the watch by rotating the crown clockwise before securing it again by pushing it down and screwing it back into place.

Setting the time follows a similar process. After unscrewing the crown, it is pulled out to the second position, allowing the time to be adjusted by turning the crown in either direction. Once the time is set, the crown is pushed back to its original position and screwed down securely. The Unitas 6498 movement inside the EPOS 3429SK measures 37.20 mm in diameter and 4.50 mm in height, offering a robust platform that perfectly complements the watch’s multifunctional design. The round 16½’’’ calibre remains one of the most recognisable manually wound movements in Swiss watchmaking, valued for both its size and mechanical reliability.

A Collector’s Statement

Beyond its mechanical strength and transformable design, the EPOS 3429SK Limited Edition stands out for its exclusivity and historical inspiration. By combining a pocket watch, wristwatch and table clock into a single timepiece, EPOS delivers a watch that celebrates horological tradition while offering modern practicality.
