Featured: The Louis Erard Alain Silberstein Le Triptyque

Back in 2019, Louis Erard collaborated with renowned french designer Alain Silberstein to revisit the emblematic ‘Le Régulateur’. The results were exceptional: two series of 178 models that were almost immediately sold out in just a few hours, although you may still find them on the secondary market. Following this successful endeavour, this year Louis Erard and Alain Silberstein have introduced three new watches that reflect both the artistic approach of the french designer and the watchmaking mastery of the brand. The triptych brings together three different timepieces – three signature models, each with their own unique features: La Semaine, Le Régulateur II and Le Chrono Monopoussoir.
Let's start with a GPHG 2021 nominee and what one may call the base model of this trio - La Semaine. A standard three hands and a date and day display. Besides those fun pops of colours, adding a fun and playful vibe to this version is the unique weekly planner developed by Alain Silberstein. The days here do not have names, infact small, stylised smileys that symbolise different moods, reminding us that time is a flow, an experience, an emotion evolving through the days. From grey Mondays to radiant Sundays (or vice versa)...
Taking it up a notch is the new variation on Le Régulateur. With a large blue arrow hand for the minutes, a red triangle for the hours, and a small yellow serpentine hand for the seconds, the dial may not be classified as extremely legible but would you really buy this Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein watch solely to tell the time? A canvas to Silberstein's signature touch with those geometric shapes and colour pops, Le Régulateur is both sophisticated yet childlike.
The third part of the triptych is an all-new chronograph design from the guest artist: Le Chrono Monopoussoir Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein. Another esteemed nominee at GPHG 2021, it features the centrally placed hour and minute hand, with the chronograph seconds hand at the centre and a 30-minute counter at 12 o'clock. Just like the La Semaine model, the monopusher chronograph also sports a red circle pinned with a triangle, Silberstein’s new signature hour hand. All this is controlled by a red button that's co-axil with the crown.
All the three 40mm titanium watches consists of a frame with brancards-style lugs (vertical sidebars). This Triptyche is available on a nylon strap with a quick-fit Velcro closure, a first for Louis Erard. Architecture in its pure form, resulting in geometric simplicity and effects created by contrasting shapes, materials and finishes, Le Triptyque Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein watches are both cheery and accessible, well atleast in terms of their prices. Availability, well thats yet another battle since from what we hear they are already sold out! Water-resistant to 100 meters, each item is limited to 178 models, 78 of which will be sold in a collector's box customised with an NFT digital artcode by the artist himself. Louis Erard is one of the first in Swiss watchmaking to offer such a technology, and this can only be offered thanks to Qiibee, which already partners with the brand for its loyalty program.
“A watch is a search for harmony. Just like a choir or philharmonic orchestra, where you rehearse until you find that certain something, the crystallisation. These watches are made to awake the inner child within all of us, and my work is only really finished when they make someone smile. Without carte blanche from Louis Erard, it would have been impossible to succeed in this goal”, says Alain Silberstein.
