Geneva Watch Days 2022: Bvlgari: Octo Finissimo Range Sets The ‘Gold Standard’

For Geneva Watch Days 2022, Bvlgari has prepared an interesting contrast play. All the different sides of the Italian label are on full display in this vibrantly natural display of contrasting colors, shapes, materials, finishes, and skill.

The new masterpieces from Bvlgari show that gold is making a comeback! Many rose gold Finissimo references were added to celebrate the Octo collection's tenth anniversary. Playing on the contrast between the material and the transparency of its iconic case, the new Manufacture movement in the Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days expertly combines design and watchmaking experience.

The new Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Automatic and Octo Finissimo Automatic references are also 'gold standard' timepieces; the latter is also available in a limited edition made of yellow gold. Similarly, the Octo Finissimo Sejima Edition, created in partnership with the Japanese supernova of architecture, shimmers with mirror effects, experimenting with transparency in a perfect representation of the style.

1. OCTO FINISSIMO SKELETON 8 DAYS

Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days captures the essence of the Octo brand thanks to its seamless combination of innovative design and skilled watchmaking.

The new Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days is right in keeping with this custom, which heralds the return of gold to the forefront. Moreover, the watch's inner workings of design and technology are on full display. The new hand-wound factory movement, the extra-fine caliber BVL 199 SK, has a remarkable 8-day power reserve and was conceived and developed in perfect harmony by the watchmakers and designers of Bvlgari.

At 7:30, you'll notice the gauge-shaped indicator conforming to the roundness of the little seconds counter. This new mechanism, designed to complement the model's strong geometric forms, is a study in contrasts: substance and transparency; powerful lines and lightness; gold hour-markers on a sand-blasted matte anthracite framework for optimum legibility.

The 40 mm pink gold case has a satin finish, a thickness of 5.95 mm, is protected by a sapphire back and is water-resistant to 30 meters, all while remaining true to the hallmark aesthetic of the Octo line, which draws the octagon, the geometry of perfection. Unfold it on the brown alligator strap secured with a pin buckle. The new Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days is the embodiment of a subdued and polished masculine interpretation while also serving as a testament to the extraordinary skill of the watchmakers who created it. 2. OCTO FINISSIMO GOLD

Gold Is back! In honor of the Octo collection's tenth anniversary, Bvlgari is releasing two new precious metal Octo Finissimo models: the Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT in pink gold, and the Octo Finissimo Automatic in either pink or yellow gold. A shinier and more exciting new episode in the Octo Finissimo adventure! Every possible standard for minimalism, subtlety, and clarity has been broken by the Octo Finissimo collection.

Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Automatic

What could be more refined than a rose gold casing with a satin finish and a brown lacquered dial? This harmonious synthesis is a reimagining of the extraordinary automatic GMT chronograph introduced in 2019, which set a new world record for thinness at just 3.3 millimeters. The ultrathin, octagonal casing in satin-brushed rose gold is 43 millimeters in diameter and is water-resistant to a depth of 100 meters; it is the defining characteristic of the Octo Finissimocollection. A brown alligator leather strap with a folding clasp completes the watch. The case-side pushers operate the integrated automatic BVL Calibre 318 movement that powers the chronograph and GMT features.

Featuring a casing crafted of ultra-thin rose gold, this GMT chronograph is the thinnest mechanical chronograph ever created, exuding an air of natural sophistication and subtle ostentation.

Octo Finissimo Automatic

The Octo Finissimo collection is known for its purity and understated elegance. The new gold Octo Finissimo Automatic captures the essence of these two characteristics. The powerful personalities of these models are a result of the interplay between the sparkling rose- or yellow-gold case and the dark brown lacquered dial. Alternating matt and polished aspects on the case and bracelet are also new to this collection, and they mark a glorious new age for the Finissimo brand.

The BVL Calibre 138, an optimized self-winding Manufacture movement, provides the heartbeat for these timepieces. The new model has a record-breaking 2.23 mm of thickness while still boasting 208 components and 31 jewels, an autonomous winding mechanism, a closed barrel, and an updated escapement and balance.

The rose gold version is available year-round, but to commemorate the half-century commemoration of the first Bvlgari boutique in the United States, the yellow gold version is being released in a limited edition of just 50 pieces.

3. Octo Finissimo SEJIMA EDITION

This magnificent Octo Finissimo Sejima Edition is the work of Japanese architect Kazuyo Sejima. The mirror finish and emphasis on see-through design elements distinguish this limited edition of 360 pieces.

Incredibly fruitful cooperation between Bvlgari and Japanese architect Kazuyo Sejima resulted in the Octo Finissimo Sejima Edition. The architect who won the 2010 Pritzker Prize (the highest honor in her field) and the 2004 Golden Lion at the Venice Architecture Biennale present her take on the Octo Finissimo.

This Octo Finissimo Sejima Edition was created to echo the aesthetic codes present in her work, which focuses on the tension between materiality and transparency, the apparent and the invisible. The dial, made of sapphire crystal and adorned with a dot pattern also created by the Japanese architect, is only one of the many distinguishing features of this model; the case and bracelet, made of stainless steel, are both highly polished. The BVL Calibre 138 self-winding Manufacture movement is visible via the sapphire crystal caseback, which is signed by Sejima.

This Octo Finissimo Sejima Edition is just 360 made and comes in a special presentation steel box that mimics the model's signature mirrored finish.
