Are you all geared up for the most awaited Dubai Watch Week 2021? What’s the one thing every watch enthusiast looks forward to here? For me, it’s the Horology Forum. As part of its Horology Forum, which runs from November 24 to 28, Dubai Watch Week 2021 encourages open talks between collectors, manufacturers, skilled craftsmen, artists, and creative minds from many industries. This year, the horology forums will focus on several interesting topics like Alignment of the fittest, I love my Patek, Pan-mechanism, and others. This years’ edition will host several imminent speakers like Georges Kern, Nicholas Foulkes, Michael-Loris Melikoff, and more.

Leading experts in horology, the arts, commerce, and entertainment will engage in the no-holds-barred panels to offer their perspectives on the industry's most contentious issues, and all audience members are urged to join.

About the Horology Forum : Dubai Watch Week 2021

The Horology Forum is an intellectually rigorous forum comprising free-flowing debates between master artisans, captains of industries, visionaries, and seasoned collectors, and is an innovative concept invented by Dubai Watch Week 2021.

The Horology Forum, the forerunner of panel-led conversations in the watch business, brings together famous professionals from many sectors to interact in panels positioned to enlighten audiences and participants with their prized insights and unique viewpoints while analysing the topic at hand. Its criteria for choosing participants are unique in that they reach out to industries that aren't related to horology. The level of passion and commitment to excellence shared by all participants is the common thread that binds them together.

The Horology Forum, which tackles generally interesting subjects, brings together people from many businesses and delivers unique perspectives on the industry and beyond.

“The Horology Forum, a unique concept pioneered by Dubai Watch Week, facilitates open dialogue, nourishes learning, and promotes education across cultures. We are thrilled to welcome this year's speakers, who will undoubtedly deliver insightful perspectives into their respective professions”, said Director-General of Dubai Watch Week, Hind Abdul Hamied Seddiqi.

1. I Love My Patek, What Does It Do?

Happening on 25th November from 10:00-11:00 AM (6:00 AM-7:00 AM GMT)

Patek Philippe, a name that resonates with all and a brand that carries a rich heritage. This year, at the Dubai Watch Week, the horology forum has a panel comprising speakers like Danny Govberg, Executive Chairman of Watchbox, Nicholas Foulkes, President of GPGH 2021, Mohammed Abdulmageid Seddiqi, CCO of Seddiqi Holding, and Ali Nael.

This session taking place on 25th November at 10.00 am, will see Nicholas Foulkes as the moderator. If you haven't already registered for this panel discussion, we suggest you get right to it. A panel assessing how much knowledge money can buy, as well as the shame attached to collector reputation in particular societies. A discussion about why certain cultures have a reputation for extravagant spending habits in luxury vs collector life, and why money speaks louder than wisdom. What part does socioeconomics play in all of this? What is it that the naysayer in the room isn't saying?

2. Pan-Mechanism

Happening on 27th November from 10:00-11:00 AM (6:00-7:00 AM GMT)

A discussion on the complete gender neutrality of watches. The future of gender watches in watchmaking—will watches in this day and age be fully gender-free? Or, as per conventional beliefs of Venus vs. Mars human nature, will the necessity for male and female distinction win out? Quite an interesting discussion here with speakers Suzanne Wong, Founder of Watch Femme, Fabrizio Buonomassa, Design Centre Director at Bvlgari Watches, Christine Hutter, CEO of Moritz Grossmann, and Aldis Hodge. This session will take place on 27th November.

3. What Do You Do When We Come For You?

Happening on 28th November from 10:00-11:00 AM  (6:00-7:00 AM GMT)

A panel of change agents will evaluate how sectors 'welcome' them and which industries will survive to become leaders. This panel includes speakers like Rexhep Rexhepi, Founder at AKRIVIA, Felix Baumgartner, Master Watch-maker and Co-Founder at Urwerk, Mishal Kanoo and H. E Hala Badri. This session will take place on November 28.

Bringing in agents of change who challenge the status quo by allowing them to adapt to the changing times, as well as how industries respond to and treat these agents. What kind of 'change agents' succeed, and which ones fail? The panel will also examine encouraging examples of being approached by financiers or the media who initially turned down a change agent, as well as when 'catch and kill' backfires and the target not only lives, but soars to success.

A diverse range of topics and conversations to look forward to at Dubai watch Week 2021. Will it change our perspective on how we perceive watches and brands? Let’s wait and find out.

Register here for these and the various other Horology Forums.
