MING Unveils The 37.07 Monolith: A Masterclass In Understated Elegance

Independent watchmakers are creating quite a stir in the industry with their unique timepieces. MING has revealed its latest minimalist creation, the 37.07 Monolith, a subtle and textured evolution of last year's 37.07 Mosaic anniversary model. Clad in a matte black DLC coating and showcasing a darkly luminous dial, the Monolith radiates quiet sophistication.
At 38mm in diameter and just 10.9mm thick, the stainless steel case maintains the well-proportioned dimensions of the 37.07 family. However, the monochromatic brushed and blasted finishes visually slim the case for a lighter, almost floating effect on the wrist. Domed front and back sapphire crystals subtly recede from view, while the bezel has been reduced to a thin polished rim outlining the expansive dial opening.
This opening reveals a two-layered dial combining innovation and restraint. A brushed metal base in grey Super-LumiNova forms the foundation. Printed on top is a transparent grey mosaic pattern, its graduated triangles allowing the lume to glow through. The interplay of matte and gloss on the sapphire upper dial contributes additional visual depth.
The mosaic texture ties aesthetically to the previous Mosaic model while carving out a personality all its own. Gone are the bright reflections; instead, the Monolith channels refined subtlety. Contrasting hands and indices maintain legibility, framed by the textural miniature landscape.
Inside beats the Sellita-based MING SW210 manual-wind movement with signature skeletonized anthracite bridges. Visual flair takes a backseat to flawless finishing and precision timekeeping. Jean Rousseau provides a new black calf leather strap perfectly suited to the watch's low-key elegance. Its Alcantara burnt orange lining injects a welcome spark of color.
Limited to 250 pieces and priced at CHF 3,500, the MING 37.07 Monolith embraces nuance and texture within an understated yet contemporary design. Once again MING upholds their reputation for watches that impress with their quiet confidence as much as their technical artistry.
