Roger Dubuis Interprets Indian Icons For Art Of Time’s 10th Anniversary
For a decade, Art of Time has served as a bridge between Indian watch enthusiasts and the world’s most revered horological maisons. To mark its 10th anniversary, the boutique partners with Geneva-based Roger Dubuis to unveil two exclusive timepieces that are as symbolic as they are technically impressive. The first, a bespoke edition of the Excalibur Monobalancier, honours Lord Ganesha the beloved deity known as the Remover of Obstacles and the God of Beginnings. The collaboration speaks volumes about the shared passions of both brands: a commitment to expressive design, technical mastery, and meaningful storytelling.
True to Roger Dubuis’ design philosophy, the timepiece is bold and evocative, inside and out. The sapphire crystal dial features an artistic portrayal of Lord Ganesha, metallized in pink gold and accented with black and white varnish. Notably, the Excalibur’s signature astral star has been omitted to allow an uninterrupted view of this intricate, hand-drawn design one that symbolizes wisdom, strength, and protection.
“This piece is deeply personal,” says Gaurav Bhatia, Co-founder & Director of Art of Time. “It represents where we come from and how we embrace modernity while staying rooted in heritage. To see Lord Ganesha interpreted with such respect and flair by Roger Dubuis for our esteemed clients is extraordinary.”
Technically, the Excalibur Monobalancier Lord Ganesha Edition is a showcase of high watchmaking. It houses the RD720SQ automatic calibre, with a skeletonized micro-rotor positioned between 10 and 11 o’clock to reduce vibrations. The balance wheel has been fine-tuned for maximum stability and shock resistance. Diamond-coated silicon components in the escapement system contribute to an impressive 72-hour power reserve. Hand-finished and bearing the prestigious Poinçon de Genève, this 42 mm masterpiece is crafted in 18K pink gold and paired with a brown leather strap. Just 8 pieces will be made—each engraved with its unique number, a nod to Lord Ganesha’s eight divine powers.
Complementing this spiritual tribute is a second timepiece designed especially for women: the Velvet Automatic, presented in a striking shade of green. Long associated with prosperity, renewal, and grace in Indian culture, green also symbolises the strength and resilience of the modern woman—qualities Roger Dubuis honours in this limited edition.
Set in a 36 mm 18K pink gold case and adorned with brilliant-cut diamonds across the bezel, flange, and lugs, the Velvet Automatic is as radiant as it is refined. Its mother-of-pearl dial is tinted green and encircled with Roman numerals—the “X” in particular highlighted in green as a subtle reference to Art of Time’s 10th anniversary.
“The Velvet is not just beautiful—it’s confident,” says Bharat Kapoor, Co-founder & Director, Art of Time. “It’s for those who see watches as an extension of their personal style and strength. A true celebration of individuality.”
At its heart beats the self-winding Calibre RD830, upholding Roger Dubuis’ reputation for technical precision. Only 10 pieces of this special edition will be produced, with each one individually numbered on the caseback. These exclusive creations not only mark a significant milestone for Art of Time, but also highlight a remarkable partnership between Indian culture and Swiss ingenuity proving once again that when heritage meets innovation, horological art is born.
