When consumers hear the name "Seiko," a mental image of the Seiko 5 Sports may be the first thing that comes to mind. As far as I'm concerned, it's indicative of the brand. The underlying design concepts haven't changed all that much over the years. The Seiko 5 Sports has stood the test of time, despite changes in materials and fashion. This new technology will carry us further than ever before in 2022. How? Introducing the Seiko Sports 5 GMT Collection!

The Seiko 5 Sports

The Seiko 5 Sports family of mechanical timepieces, which was first introduced in 1968, has become known for their sturdiness and dependability. When the line was revived in 2019, it had a more energetic and youthful feel to it. Adding a GMT calibre to the portfolio is a major step forward for the brand today. In a case that is just 0.01 mm thicker than the previous Caliber 4R, this new series of three designs provides the convenience of the GMT hand.

The dials of all three new models are available in black, blue, and orange. Hands in vivid red on the black and blue dial variations and black on the orange version are used to make the GMT hands stand out. The GMT hand includes a large covering of Lumibrite to ensure legibility in low light, just like the time of day hands and indexes.

Seiko 5 GMT Blue

In addition to the GMT function, the timepieces have a revolving bezel in two colours that may be used to quickly distinguish between day and night. Hardlex glass is used in the bezel ring indicator to ensure that Seiko's 5 Sports series is known for its high level of durability.

Design inspired by the past

The Seiko SKX series, a beloved sports watch by Seiko fans, is the basis for the watch's casing and dial design. Bracelet with 5 rows inspired by the original Skx series with polished middle rows to contrast the substantial feel of the rest of the bracelet.

As of July 2022, all three watches will be sold at select Seiko Boutiques and other retail locations globally.
