Night diving is a fantastic opportunity to see a completely different view of the water than you wouldn't get during a day dive. The mystical world of the water at night fascinates many divers, making this recreational activity popular all around the world. The Black Series by Seiko now includes four unusual watches that recall the undersea environment at night. The orange colour is inspired by the lights that brighten the night ocean, while the black case reflects its gloom and solitude.

Strap

The timepieces come with a fabric strap that uses the Seichu braiding technique, which is a traditional Japanese braiding technique. Its strength and resistance to damage induced by sunshine meet the most stringent Seiko Prospex diver's watch specifications. A black silicone strap will also be supplied, which can be worn in a variety of scenarios.

Case & Bracelet

The original model, which debuted in 1970, has long been admired by collectors for its strong specs and flowing case design, which includes an asymmetrical extension that protects the crown at 4 o'clock. The inside of the glass is made of curved sapphire with an anti-reflective coating. To produce a modern, sharp profile, the case sides are thoroughly polished, and the watch is placed on a five-row steel bracelet.

Modern Representation Of The Original Model of the 1965 Mechanical Diver

In 1965, Japan's first diver's watch was released. When utilised in the severe environment of Antarctica in the 1960s, the watch established its dependability. The redesigned design stays loyal to the original, but it's upgraded to meet today's Prospex standards. With a small appearance and a low centre of gravity, the watch is ideal for everyday usage.

The Modern Representation Of 1968 Mechanical Divers

The first model, introduced in 1968, was a game-changer, including 300 metres of water resistance and a 10-beat automatic movement. While keeping the original model's sharp and powerful design, it adopts a reduced case size of 42mm to provide comfort and fit on the wrist.

Modern Representation of 1970 Mechanical Diver

This diver's watch with a remarkable streamlined design was worn by adventurer Naomi Uemura during a 12,500km solo dog-sled run from Greenland to Alaska between 1974 and 1976, proving its reliability in difficult conditions. The water resistance has been enhanced from 150m to 200m, and the glass material has been changed to sapphire glass, all while preserving the original casing form.
