If we already weren’t mesmerized by the stunning launches of the Manufacture at Watches And Wonders 2023, there’s a new surprise! Keeping up with the green-dialed watches trend, here’s introducing the Tradionnelle Tourbillon. The harmony of aesthetics and tradition is encapsulated in the new Traditionnelle tourbillon watch. Its sunburst deep green dial is beautifully framed by a 950 platinum case, and its tourbillon regulator, which is integrated into the ultra-thin Calibre 2160/1, is emblematic of horological expertise.

Vacheron Constantin: Traditionelle Tourbillon

A magnificent sunburst green dial graces the new Traditionnelle tourbillon watch, housed in a 41 mm platinum case. This unique hue, achieved through galvanic treatment, gives the model a sense of depth and intensity while also adding a shimmering white hue to the noble metal. The white gold baton hour markers and Dauphine-style hands add to the contrast, while the deep green strap complements the color of the dial.

“The Traditionnelle collection embodies the full measure of Vacheron Constantin's watchmaking legitimacy. It conveys both history and tradition through precise stylistic codes corresponding to an aesthetic that remains timeless however complex the mechanisms. With this new dial color, Vacheron Constantin is pursuing its contemporary vision of the classical approach to design”, said Christian Selmoni, Director of Style and Heritage.

The new Traditionnelle tourbillon's slim case is a reflection of the watch's inherent beauty, made possible by the 5.65 mm thinness of the in-house, self-winding Calibre 2160/1. Because of the effects of gravity on the isochronism of the balance spring, this caliber includes a tourbillon regulator mechanism to achieve such a thin profile.

This regulator's frequency has been calibrated to 18,000 vibrations per hour so that its operation can be studied in detail (2.5 Hz). This leisurely pace, typical of vintage pocket watches, is perfect for admiring the tourbillon's "mechanical ballet." The movement's design, which includes a peripheral rotor, adds to the spectacle visible through the transparent sapphire caseback. The latter not only makes the caliber thinner but also guarantees a pleasant 80-hour power reserve.

The hand-bevelled, Côtes-de-Genève–decorated bridges on the caseback and the circular-grained baseplate on the dial side of the movement are further evidence of this pursuit of perfection. The tourbillon also demonstrates this level of care for detail with its Maltese cross-shaped carriage that carries the small seconds indicated by a blackened screw. The suspension bar was given a conical and semi-cylindrical form by filing and then polishing the material in a painstakingly manual process.

Just the perfect blend of aesthetics, modernity, and tradition? Salmon-pink, gold, sunburst-green, what’s next? We look forward to it!
