In a blend of luxury and sophistication, Cartier recently orchestrated an unforgettable evening for the members of YPO (Young Presidents Organisation) Mumbai at the Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai. YPO, short for Young Presidents' Organization, is a global network of young chief executives with a vision to foster peer-to-peer learning and idea exchange among business leaders. YPO Mumbai, one of the vibrant chapters of this global community, comprises dynamic individuals driving innovation and growth across various industries.

Among the distinguished guests from Cartier were Michel Aliaga – Director Patrimony & Hertiage, Gaetan Guillosson, MD, Cartier India and others who graced the evening with their presence. Their insights and expertise added a layer of depth to the discussions, enriching the experience for all attendees. The duo enlightened the guests on Cartier’s rich heritage dating back to 1847, while reflecting on the strong association with India. Cartier's relationship with India indeed stretches far back into history, intertwining with tales of royalty, luxury, and timeless elegance. The brand's journey in India mirrors the country's own evolution and cultural heritage, spanning centuries of admiration and patronage. During the height of the British Raj, Cartier crafted exquisite jewels and artifacts for Indian royalty, reflecting the grandeur and splendor of the era. Maharajas commissioned bespoke pieces adorned with precious gemstones, intricate designs, and unparalleled craftsmanship, cementing Cartier's reputation as the jeweler of kings and the king of jewelers.

At the heart of the evening was the esteemed presence of Karishma Karer, Founder of The Hour Markers, a prominent figure in the watch world. Karer, known for her profound knowledge and passion for horology, was invited by Cartier to share her journey in the watch industry and curate a stimulating panel discussion around watch collecting. Reflecting on the rules of watch collecting, Karer remarked, THERE ARE NO RULES! “Watch collecting, at its essence, should be a joyful pursuit, a passion that adds colour and excitement to life. It's about more than amassing a collection for the sake of acquisition, it's about cherishing each timepiece for its unique story, craftsmanship, and aesthetic appeal. The allure of watch collecting lies in the thrill of discovery, the delight of wearing a piece of history on your wrist, and the camaraderie shared with fellow enthusiasts. However, it's crucial not to let the pursuit of collecting become all-consuming. Collect because you love watches, because each piece resonates with you on a personal level, and because it brings joy into your life”, Karer.

On being questioned about trends in the luxury watch world Karer reinstated her opinion that luxury watch brands are not mere followers of trends; they are trendsetters, visionaries, and custodians of timeless craftsmanship. Rather than conforming to fleeting fads, these brands have a rich legacy of shaping the very essence of what defines luxury and elegance in the world of horology. That being said the generic trends this year in her opinion were smaller case sizes, contemporary designs, vintage re-issues and colourful watches to name a few.

Cartier's enduring presence in India serves as a testament to the brand's timeless elegance and enduring appeal. From the grandeur of princely courts to the bustling streets of modern India, Cartier's jewels and timepieces continue to captivate and inspire, bridging the gap between past and present with effortless grace.
