Last year, a community initiative sparked an experience that is now taking root. Alpina is launching a new collection of chronographs, Alpiner4, today that takes its inspiration from the Alpine forests, lakes, and mountains.

In 2021, Alpina will poll its community to create three sustainable timepieces using existing components as part of the Community Watch project, which will be officially unveiled on December 11th, International Mountain Day, in support of the Salomon Foundation, which assists injured mountain professionals and their families.

2022: Due to the popularity of these timepieces, particularly the Alpiner4 Chronograph "Granite" model, Alpina has chosen to include it in the current collection in order to meet demand, as well as two further models in the same vein.

Inspired by nature and its admirers, Alpina has always maintained an intimate and exclusive relationship with its community between the Alps, its native mountains, and all of its devotees who scale the peaks with their bare hands or ski down the slopes.

When the company decided to construct three pieces to demonstrate its dedication to environmental stewardship, its community came up with...5900 potential names! There are hundreds of different cases, straps, dials, and hands to choose from.

One of the names that emerged victorious from this impassioned outpouring was the Alpiner4 Chronograph "Granite." To fulfill the needs of its community, this popular timepiece has been renamed the "Alpiner4 Chronograph Automatic." Granite's spirit continues to motivate it.

And why is that? It has a steel case that looks like Alpine granite. Because of its steel bracelet, it's the ideal tool watch for summit climbing. Because its light blue dial, which was inspired by Alpine lakes, is incredibly fashionable! So many assets have captivated the Alpina community and will now be available to all collectors of great Swiss Made timepieces. But wait, there's more…

Between the woods and the granite

Alpina has added two more variations to its new Alpiner4 Chronograph Automatic line, carrying on the spirit and inspiration of the initial model. The first one features a durable 44 mm steel case with an engraved, shockproof, and anti-magnetic back, sapphire crystal, steel band, bidirectional rotating bezel, and 24-hour graduated flange, as well as the features of its predecessor. With an all-new grey sunray dial, however, the "granite" nuance is pushed to its fullest. It allows the red chronograph minute hand to stand out with superb readability as it is positioned in the sun, for increased precision and reading comfort.

This version, like the other two, has luminous steel hands and is driven by the AL-860 self-winding movement, which beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a 55-hour power reserve.
