Cartier Tank Normale Joins The Prive Collection As The 7th Opus
Cartier’s Tank collection has always been appreciated. From its simplistic design to the beauty it adds to your wrist, it’s a classic. This year at Watches And Wonders 2023, Cartier unveils the Tank Normale!
The Cartier Privé collection welcomes a new one-of-a-kind timepiece every year, serving as a hub for watch enthusiasts to gather and discuss their shared passion for Cartier's legendary timepiece designs.
The Tank Normale, Cartier Privé's seventh masterpiece, was unveiled at Watches And Wonders 2023. The Tank, designed by Louis Cartier in 1917 and introduced the following year, is a masterpiece not only of the Maison but of all of watchmaking.
Inspired by the proportions and beveled sapphire crystal of the original, Cartier has come up with an hour/minute version for this year. You can get it in yellow gold with a brown alligator strap or platinum with a black one. The bracelets that come with this model are either yellow gold or platinum, and they come in both satin and polished finishes that are reminiscent of the 1970s.
Cartier has updated this iconic watch with a skeletonized movement and a 24-hour complication featuring a skeletonized sun and crescent moon. The minute hand completes one rotation of the dial every 60 seconds, but the hour hand takes 24 hours to complete a rotation.
Therefore, the daytime hours are displayed higher on the dial, while the nighttime hours are displayed lower. Watchmakers have coated the skeletonized bridges with a gradient of shades adorning the two halves of the dial to represent the change from day to night.
This skeletonized Tank is available in yellow gold on a brown and green alligator strap with a blue sapphire cabochon on the winding crown, or in platinum on a burgundy and grey alligator strap with a ruby cabochon; each watch is numbered and limited to 50 pieces.
A limited edition of 20 numbered pieces, this timepiece features a two-tone blue alligator strap and a winding crown set with a brilliant-cut diamond. Blued hands, cabochon on the winding crown, and, on the basic Tank Normale, rail tracks, and a secret signature are all hallmarks of authentic Tank timepieces.
