The Third Chapter: TAG Heuer And fragment Reinvent The Carrera Once Again
TAG Heuer and fragment continue a creative exchange that has become one of modern watchmaking’s most intriguing dialogues. Their partnership returns to the TAG Heuer Carrera collection for a third chapter, refining its legacy through a distinctly minimalist lens. This new release, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition, brings Hiroshi Fujiwara’s unmistakable design codes into the glassbox era, offering a clean, confident reinterpretation of an icon.
Hiroshi Fujiwara renowned globally as a cultural innovator and often regarded as the godfather of streetwear brings more than style to this collaboration. Through fragment, he contributes the eye of a collector, the discipline of a designer, and a deep personal connection to mechanical watchmaking. It’s a partnership built on genuine respect: fragment, with its instinct for creating objects that resonate across creative worlds, and TAG Heuer, rooted in a legacy of precision and motorsport performance.

Their first two timepieces quickly achieved cult status, signalling a rare harmony between Fujiwara’s aesthetic purity and TAG Heuer’s craftsmanship. That success set the stage for a return to the TAG Heuer Carrera. “This collaboration speaks to the essence of design that lasts,” said Antoine Pin, CEO of TAG Heuer. “Hiroshi Fujiwara approaches a watch in the same way we approach our heritage with precision, innovation, and the understanding that true identity does not need to be reinvented, only revealed.”
Fujiwara echoes the same philosophy. “When I look at the TAG Heuer Carrera, I see shapes and stories ready to be designed and expressed. My role with this new release was to listen to its structure and make decisions that protect its balance. Every detail has to earn its place. Nothing is added unless it has a reason to exist.”
A Legacy Reinterpreted
First introduced in 1963 by Jack Heuer, the TAG Heuer Carrera has long been one of the brand’s most important design pillars. Built for drivers and named after the legendary Carrera Panamericana race, it quickly became known for its clarity, precision and refined aesthetic. Over the decades, the Carrera evolved while remaining true to its purpose, and the modern chronograph with glassbox design introduced a fresh dimensionality. It incorporates a curved flange, a white outer flange, and a black-on-black dial, paired with a customized date disc where the fragment logo appears at the 1 and 11 numerals, echoing the brand’s lightning bolt symbol. While rooted in the 1960s spirit, this construction uses contemporary materials and proportions to enhance depth, clarity and visual drama.

Fujiwara’s interest in the Carrera naturally grew from this balance of heritage and modernity. His previous collaborations reflect this connection. The 2018 release offered a stripped-down, bold take on the Carrera, while the 2020 creation for the TAG Heuer Formula 1 brought a more graphic, high-contrast signature. Both introduced his black-and-white palette and quickly became collector favorites. Now, the conversation returns once more to the TAG Heuer Carrera this time within the glassbox generation.
Deliberate Contrast, Absolute Clarity
The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition showcases a 39-millimetre steel case that plays on sharp contrasts of black and white, an unmistakable nod to Fujiwara’s design vocabulary. The domed sapphire glassbox crystal rises above a black opalin dial, softly absorbing light to create a smooth, almost tactile texture. A white curved flange introduces controlled contrast, and all markings across the dial, subdials and flange are rendered in silver for a cohesive finish.

Details have been tuned with purpose: rhodium-plated chronograph hands, a lighter grey tachymeter scale on the bezel, and the return of TAG Heuer’s seven-row “beads-of-rice” bracelet. The central links are treated with black PVD, extending the dial’s contrast across the wrist for a unified visual identity.
Inside, the watch is powered by the in-house TH20-00 movement, featuring an 80-hour power reserve and a 5-year extended warranty. The movement is also personalized a shield-shaped oscillating weight reinterprets the TAG Heuer emblem with black graphic detailing, while the fragment logo is printed directly onto the sapphire caseback. A column wheel and vertical clutch ensure smooth chronograph function, and the bidirectional winding system optimizes energy efficiency.

Engraved around the caseback edge is the Victory Wreath, a nod to the golden age of Formula 1®. Inspired by Jack Heuer’s tradition of gifting gold watches as lucky charms to victorious drivers, the motif has become a discreet symbol of success. Even the packaging has been designed to echo the watch’s visual language. Both brands’ logos appear prominently in black and white, and the timepiece is delivered in a sleek black box accompanied by an embossed black pouch, reinforcing the collaboration’s pared-back yet luxurious identity.
Limited to 500 individually numbered pieces, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition is the result of an authentic exchange between Swiss watchmaking precision and Japan’s creative pulse a piece crafted not for mass appeal, but for those who appreciate the quiet power of design done with intention.
