Watches And Wonders 2025: TAG Heuer Formula 1 Returns As The Brand Is Back As Official Timekeeper Of F1
Legacy in motorsport is a hard-fought contest shifting in brand association among discussions of such kind. In reality, only a few can claim authority and an inseparable alliance with racing in general and particularly its ultimate expression - Formula 1. TAG Heuer has been a brand for which the extent and expanse of motorsport connect isn’t known at a mass level. Yet the scale of its involvement with racing and Formula 1 has been at a rank for which any brand would literally kill. In 2025, the brand is celebrating its glorious comeback as Formula 1’s official timekeeper with the release of nine new TAG Heuer Formula 1 models at Watches and Wonders 2025. Available in an eye-catching range of colorways, the collection revitalizes a 1980s icon with a cutting-edge Solargraph movement.

TAG Heuer And Formula 1
TAG Heuer has been a brand largely inseparable from motorsport in general and Formula 1 in particular. From the familiar sight of the Heuer Monaco Ref. 1133B on the wrist of Steve Mc Queen in the movie “Le Mans” to Ayrton Senna’s very own TAG Heuer S/EL S25.706C, the brand’s racing connect and Formula 1 association hasn’t been something to do with just watches or sponsorship of visible timing. The brand has a very strong legitimacy of being a Formula 1 timekeeper and has played a key role in bringing the experience of Formula 1 timing to people following the sport on television. It is TAG Heuer that started broadcasting F1 timekeeping by sharing live telemetry with viewers all over the globe. Watches such as the Heuer Carrera Ref. 1158 have of bona fine paddock prestige and even Heuer becoming TAG Heuer is a motorsport doing.

It won’t be a stretch to suggest that all of Formula 1’s greatest drivers have been synonymously connected to the brand. It’s true that TAG Heuer is the most winning brand in motorsport. In fact, the only other brand name with more victories to its name is Ferrari. In many ways TAG Heuer is Formula 1 and they’re back to where they belong.
The All-New Tag Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph
The arrival of the original Formula 1 collection in 1986 coincided with Heur’s rebranding as TAG Heuer. In fact, it was the first collection to bear this new unified name. That collection would go on to become the most largely produced individual watch models in history of watchmaking, with sales exceeding 3 million units over the decade following its launch. The latest releases upscale the 35mm cases of the original and are offered in a more contemporary sizing of 38mm. These are available as sandblasted steel cases with a DLC treatment or TH-Polylight cases.

The latest TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection is based on nine distinct models of which three form the core collection. These include the classic black and white dial, deep blue, both with a steel bracelet and the red variant. The remaining six models are limited editions and pop in vivid colors of black and red, black and yellow, blue and black, white and green, white and red and a green and red edition. The latter largely resonate with colors often forming the visual hallmarks of the early 80s and 90s era. A host of ergonomic refinements defined by luminous indexes, reworked hands with better finishing and improved proportions as well as the pairing with comfortable rubber straps or redesigned steel bracelets make for a product with a better fit and finish and a refined visual impact.

Solar Performance For Eternal Timekeeping
Powering the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection released at Watches and Wonders 2025 is a movement harnessing the sun for an unlimited energy source. The Solargraph movement ensures that the watch’s battery is recharged by the sun or artificial light. A two-minute exposure to direct sunlight draws enough power to keep the watches running for an entire day. A full charge is achieved after 40 hours in the sun and this impressively lasts for up to 10 months without any need for further light exposure. Whenever the battery is drained, a mere 10 seconds of exposure to any light source gets it started again. This feature is a given of its ultra-efficient recharge time. The movement’s battery boasts an impressive 15-year lifespan for long-term performance reliability.
In all these modern realizations of the 1980s icon, a unique sensory experience in amalgam with a peerless motorsport heritage is up for grabs. TAG Heuer is very much back in Formula 1.
