In the watchmaking world, we’ve always seen watch collaborations between brands across different realms. But a collaboration for a desk clock? Well, that’s a first. RedBar Bombay collaborated with Chopard to launch a limited-edition desk clock for its members, one that will be a collectible in every member’s watch journey!

RedBar Bombay was always inclined to collaborate with a watch brand to create something that was unique and close to all the collector’s hearts. They always wanted something timeless and classic that they could keep right in front of their eyes and not necessarily always wear on their wrist. Classic and timeless? Well, that’s where Chopard was the fitting choice. But more so, because it’s one of the few brands out there that has an entire accessories division which includes clocks and it’s one of their mainstream product.

Punit Mehta, Founder at RedBar Bombay says, “The design process was extremely unique and entailed equal participation from all the 10 members who were part of this process. We went through several clocks, and a democratic vote was carried out to choose the design, how the hour-markers would look, the size and position of the logo, and which collection of Chopard’s clocks to choose from. One special thing about this clock is that we can engrave whatever we like on the caseback from Chopard.”

RedBar Bombay has always been a group of watch collectors but more so a community where a common passion for watches, synergies, and friendships comes to life. The team was so involved in the design process that even the same Pantone shade 1945C as in the global logo was incorporated in this clock. However, one key point to note was the logo was sized down because they didn’t want it to overpower the simplicity of the clock. Also, looking at this they would always be reminded that they’re part of the larger watch family!

Collector Arpit Verma says, “The Redbar x Chopard was a very interesting collaboration because while we have seen several brand collaborations for wristwatches, I have personally yet to see any for a table clock. For most of the collectors, we have several wristwatches which kind of results in such collaborations as just another wristwatch. From both those standpoints, this was a truly unique experience. The experience of designing the clock was iterative and collaborative and I couldn’t be happier with what has come out.”

These clocks are limited to 10 pieces only but there are several collaborations that we plan to do in the future. The sole idea behind this collaboration was to celebrate the spirit of camaraderie between the RedBar members and also the inclusivity culture that RedBar Bombay and RedBar Global strongly advocate. These clocks are priced to keep in mind this spirit.

To add to all the buzz, this is the first time a Swiss brand is doing a collaboration with an Indian watch enthusiast group - a big win for India and putting it on the global map. Collector Akshay Jain says, “Collaborating with Chopard is a feat in itself. This clock is a collector’s piece and I even compared it to the clocks belonging to the Khanjar family. This group has given me a lot of new friends and this clock is always going to be special. In fact, it; be the perfect accessory for my desk in my new office. It’s more like - if you know, you know.”

Lastly, Punit Mehta said, “A big thank you to Karan Vaidya and the entire team at Rose The Watch Bar who have supported this project, helped us communicate with the brand smoothly, and been patient with the entire democratic project.”

Well, there’s more in store and we cannot wait to see what comes next!
